Alan Hansen's Documentary

Did anyone see it? There are very few people like Alan. Rarely have I come across anyone who can say the same thing in exactly the same way as if it was a home truth for an hour AND BE WRONG.

There he was talking to the likes of Rio and Lampard, two of the richest men in British football (who will be worth anything between £25m - £50m by the time they hang up their boots) whether they had planned for retirement.

So what do you think would be the better bet Alan - plumbing or brick laying?

I saw it, amazing how many footballers are divorced after retiring!

And Razor! :o

Goes to show though, if you're earning 25k a week and are spending at the same rate, life after football won't be that great. Only themselves to blame though.

God yes Razor!, just goes to show a little education before and during your football career goes a long way. They are so wrapped up in cotton wool that when the time comes to retire and all their 'yes men' disappear they really havent a clue about the real world - it's very sad really :(

I don't think he was asking them what their next career move was going to be. Anyone can see they won't have to work again after football unless they actually want to.

The point of it was what are they actually going to do. They cannot sit around for 40 years, until they die, doing nothing. The likes of Gazza and Razer never thought about life after football and turned to drink etc. He was asking if current footballers ever thought about future life and how to get something else after the 'drug' of football.

Not that amazing when you think about it. Trophy wife wakes up to find WHOOO? mooching about the house all day. All the housekeeping is now going on booze and there's nothing left over for lingerie, vaginal deoderants and his and hers' Ferrari's.

Only then does she finally realise that it was WHOOO? who gave her the clap after all.
