Bryn Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Other day I was writing at my disk and my laptop spontaneously started fooking around with its own resolution. Had to reboot to put the resolution back to normal (it'd gone really low resolution, like it was in safe mode or something) and since then no games have been running on my computer. Most just instantly crash. The only one that gives me a message, oddly, is age of empires, which says something about ensuring DirectDraw is compatible, which I believe is a precursor to 3D acceleration in DirectX. Anyone got any ideas what I can do, short of restoring my system to what it was when I bought the laptop?
act smiley Posted 15 May 2010 Posted 15 May 2010 Yeah DirectDraw is the 2D part of DirectX - presumably you've tried reinstalling it ? If you go to Start > run and type dxdiag , then go to the Files tab, does it all look ok ?
