City’s reserves did not feature in a reserve league last season after the second string was cut for financial reasons following City’s relegation to League One two years ago.Pearson has stated he wants to rejoin a league this season. He sees the reserves as the natural progression for the academy’s promising youngsters, but has yet to be given the go-ahead.

Apparently Pearson's been after it since he joined but the club keep rejecting. Perhaps they should re-set up the old Midland Combination League. Not too much travelling and at least get some competitive action even if they play behind closed doors on the training pitches.
