Clive Redman Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 Paulo Sousa talks about his time in Italy, winning the European Cup twice in two seasons, becoming a manager and his vision for The Foxes. On City... From the beginning, I said in two years time we will be in the Premier League and I am sure about that and very confident. The supporters are an important part of that, and they are there, I can feel that. Im a very positive manager and I like to see positive and interesting football all the time. I like to see my players learning different systems and dynamics of the game because I want to see a play rich with ideas and a lot of creativity, making quicker decisions, but the best decisions. The first time you work with the players you see confusion and because of that the decision of the player is always a little bit slower. We can see with the technology we have that we are improving these decisions game by game and the quality of the pass, the number of the passes and the number of opportunities to score has increased. We are still in a moment of bad results because every time we make a mistake, we concede a goal and we are pushing and creating good opportunities but not scoring as many as wed like. But, everything is a question of moments and when the moment comes the confidence will be bigger, the convictions will be higher and all of these things will come more naturally. MrSpaM Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 I hope the 'moment' comes sooner rather than later, we need a flippin win
STUHILL Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 “After I met him I did everything right because seeing a player of his technical ability stay after every training session for 20 minutes to improve his technique was amazing. It’s something I would like to see in my players because it means that they are focused on the game and their careers.” I'm sure there was a Swansea fan harping on about Sousa never let his players do extra training or stay after sessions?? Well this comment wouldn't suggest that at all!! Good read. Obviously a very confident and determined man. The 10 game mark is when I will start judging him on the results, but more like we saw at Coventry, and things are looking promising.
leftsideoverhere Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 Interesting comment regarding the use of technology to review performance. I'm sure someone on here was moaning the other day about how the club should analyse things like corners to see how effective we're being. Sounds like the club are already doing exactly that.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 September 2010 Posted 13 September 2010 That's a really good interview. I'm impressed with Soar Magazine's City coverage. It's good that you have been able to get an interview with Sousa and I'm glad it was done primarily about his playing career - it's an interesting perspective. Few of our previous managers have had comparable playing careers, although O'Neill can at least point to his own two European Cup winners medals despite never playing for Juventus! Just on the subject of Paulo Sousa, I was invited to do a brief article about his start with us for a Portuguese football website called Portugoal (great name) http://www.portugoal.net/index.php/more-portuguese-abroad-news/16065-portuguese-trio-struggling-at-leicester Probably nothing there that any Leicester fan wouldn't know, but thought it was worth mentioning.
