dynamite foxes Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 For a side that spent an awful lot of money don't you think they are poor. Middlesborough finished ahead spending very little. Your thoughts please
Durnerz Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 They do seem to play attractive football but their fans seem to think they are bigger than they actually are.
C-man Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 They concede too many goals to be a good team. Middlesborough have a much tighter defence, but dont score as many. Spurs are good going forward, but need to improve their defense to challenge for a european spot next year
Macca4lcfc Posted 29 May 2005 Posted 29 May 2005 I think middlesborough have spent much more than spurs! Also the spurs team is very young and is going to get much better, middlesboroughs is quite experienced! And boros wage bill is massive!!
TrickyTrev Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 Middlesborough spent very little? There wage budget must be one of the largest in the Premiership! I think Tottenhama re heading in the right direction but it does seem to me their transfer policy is in danger of becomign polarised. Signing young players is all very well and good, especially if they are quality like Defoe. However, every squad needs a balance and 'potential' is often never realised in highly rated young players.
Hazza Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 I like them, they're buying promising youngsters who are mainly British or Irish, whether they progress as well as most think remains to be seen but well done for taking the risk i'd say. Their defence probably lets them down, though i'm sure someone said that they totalled single figures in goals away from home, but they were sound defensively at the start of the season and were criticised in some quarters for staying too tight. If their defence was worse they could well be England's answer to Lecce, who ended mid table in Serie A after scoring something like 66 and conceding 74, great entertainment. A team with potential anyway.
Scow Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 I think they'll be challenging around the top six next season. They have a selection of quality strikers at their disposal in Keane, Defoe, Kanoute and Mido. King and Carrick provide a strong backbone to the side - I think they need another quality central defender though - Dawson isn't really that convincing, and he's injury prone anyway.
