foxilescom Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I can't wait for the new season to start, I think that after last year things have to be better. I wish it was August 6th tomorrow !. I look forward to a younger hungry team. I go back to the Jock Wallace days, and whilst we didnt always win, we always had a go and ran to the end. Craig Levein is building something good here, and I think we will come good, and have a good crack at this league. IF we do go up, I think we will have done very well and it will be a real success on the record of Craig Levein, and the fact that if we get any success, it will have been on a lower budget and hungry players, will make it all the sweeter. If it takes 2 years more years, so be it, I just want to see progress, we have to be patient and support him and the team to the maximum.

Levein needs our backing, as do the players. The new season should be a case of turning over a new leaf. Can't wait for it to begin - this time of year is always very frustrating, especially without any International competitions.

foxilescom Posted 26 May 2005 Author Posted 26 May 2005 I read , I think it was on here earlier, somebody said could we ever do what Liverpool did last night ?, the reply, which was quite realistic was along the lines that we couldn't. but we could have our own level of success . I know you have to be realistic, and that we are currently a lower half of the championship team, the table doesn't lie, but I always believed that we should aim for the stars ! . It was a different time, but Forest were no better than where we are now just a few years before they took on and won in Europe. I think we are about the 10th largest city in England ? , no league teams competition for maybe 20 miles away, I believe that we should be aiming in the long run to be a top half team in the Premiership ! . All this has to be built on small steps and solid foundations, this is what we have to do now, and we can do it. Our aim has to be the best.
City Fan Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Thankyou for posting something which doesn't involve the Coca Cola competition! I am looking forward to the season so much! Life is so boring without football......

foxilescom Posted 26 May 2005 Author Posted 26 May 2005 Ok Frenzied, I think we are in agreement here See you in Tokyo , November 2015 to watch us play Boca Juniors in the World Club Championship. Oh May 2014, that was a hell of a night in Paris when we beat Athletico Madrid 5-0
Guest Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I don't know what to think; part of me is optimistic, as always is with a new season to look forward to, but the last few seasons have taken their toll, far too many ups and downs to cope with!! I'm dreading another season of mediocrity, to be honest!!
Newcastle_Fox Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I'm looking forward to the new season already, bored of lack of Leicester football already, am optimistic about the new season and think we will do alright! COME ON LEICESTER!
Anish Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I don't know what to think; part of me is optimistic, as always is with a new season to look forward to, but the last few seasons have taken their toll, far too many ups and downs to cope with!! I can't say I'm as excited as everyone else, we are nowhere near capable of challenging the top teams with the players we currently have. I will have to see which players Levein brings in before I start getting carried away. Until then, it's nice not having football ruin (more often than not with LCFC) your weekend week-in week-out.
step Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Anish, what make the game so brilliant is the fact that it dont matter how bad city play and how many games we lose, there is always next week to look forward and the hope, that just maybe that will be the match, when it all starts to fall into place and we go on to a long run of wins that takes us back where we belong. We will be back, it is only a matter of time. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later.

fosseman Posted 27 May 2005 Posted 27 May 2005 After the last couple of seasons I'm delighted to have a break from the City. Any new signings in the summer will be of interest and I'll be ready for the new season at the end of the summer. By the way, the restart is too early. many people are still on holiday.

Scow Posted 27 May 2005 Posted 27 May 2005 I was actually glad when the final whistle went at Plymouth after watching 90 minutes of dross. However, I am now suffering from withdrawal symptons. I'm sure next season will see an improvement - Although, it will be difficult to predict what sort of campaign we'll encounter until we see who Levein drafts in as Anish said.
Hoof Fox Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 I cannot wait for the new season, as people have already stated we will be fielding a younger, hungrier team. Although it is difficult to guage whether we will be able to make a sustained promotion challenge until we see who CL can draft in and more importantly how the team gels and performs. But I am optimistic that we will see a big improvement and see the club start to move in the right direction. I agree the current situation mirrors the Jock Wallace era, a no nonsense Scottish manager coming down, clearing out the deadwood and rebuilding a young side playing good football. Lets hope CL can emulate his compatriot and deliver promotion over the next couple of seasons. We should always enter a new season with belief and optimism, also next season we are unlikely to be the favourites for promotion and therefore the spotlight and pressure will be on someone else, this will help us.
