nickelbyfox Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 With what seems to be a 4-3-3- or whatever you want to call it with Weale Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham Abe King Wellens Vassell Bednar/Howard Gallagher I have been thinking about it recently as seems to rely on the target man linking the play and allowing the midfielders and wingers a chance to make late runs into the box and score, however even with King and Gallagher on a rich run of form seems to me it is conducive to playing some nice flowing football but is it not going to consistently provide us with a front two strikers scoring goals. What seems to happen is we do play some nice football, push up from the back to give us some more options up front, ultimately getting hit on the break, and giving away some soft goals after controlling games. Out of Andy Kings 8 league goals we have won 4 matches drawn 2 and lost 1 where he has scored, seems to show a reliance on goals from midfield. Too much pressure on King? Wouldn't mind seeing waghorn or fryatt given a chance to bang some consistently! Dont think it is a bad formation or think we are playing badly was just wondering some opinions on the overall play, as Sven has been pretty consistent in the last 5 or so games.
Jake Shapiro Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 wonder why sven doesnt see Dyer in 1st team. He'd do better than Gallagher i think
B52 Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Maybe 4-5-1 and transfer to 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 during the game. If it goes really well 2-4-4..... 1-2-1-2-3-1 Would I love to see.
Bettsj2 Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 wonder why sven doesnt see Dyer in 1st team. He'd do better than Gallagher i think Gallagher is improving under Sven and there is definitely more to come from him. Dyer is operating at the peak of his ability which to be fair is pretty hit and miss. I like the fact that Dyer is a weapon to use from the bench against tiring defences. I think the balance of strength (Bednar), pace (Vassell) and technique (Gallagher) is a combination that is serving us particularly well at the moment. I'd say his team, formation and balance is the best that it could be at the moment.
Jimmy Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 Dyer was injured when Sven came in so he's simply never gotten his place back, the 1 start he got, Swansea away, he was terrible
