Larry_LCFC Posted 29 November 2011 Author Posted 29 November 2011 So why does it need to be done in a public environment in front of thousands of people who don't give a rats' ass? Why can't you say happy birthday to your friends face, or put a bedsheet on a roundabout? All it does is detract from the pre-match and half-time entertainment, when you've got the PA wittering on about who's birthday it is rather than playing music. Or how about, if you're really desperate to broadcast your friends birthday to 20,000 people who won't even be listening, you stump up the £20 for the privilege. Have you ever thought maybe it would just be nice to for the person whos birthday it is? Having their name read out in the stadium of the team they support before a game? Its about making the day special. Im not asking for a ****in parade around the pitch with balloons and streamers. Get over yourself.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 If you don't care about it you can just not pay attention? I hardly ever notice them being read out. But I know people who put it up for their kids who love the idea of it..and I even did it for a girlfriend and she loved it. Agree with larrylcfc

Get over yourself. Dunno why it's nice. I mean I can understand if it's for a kid, the excitement of getting your name read out at a big stadium (obiously like santa you're not going to tell them the truth that no-one actually gives two hoots) but when someone over the age of 12 gets giddy at their name read out in front of thousands of strangers, it's a bit strange. As Corky says, you seem so desperate to make this gesture, just pay the money if you think they're going to appreciate it that much. Tight git.

The fact is I haven't got 20 quid to blow for something that should be free. We don't all have a money tree in the back garden. It would have made his night but it really isn't a case of being a tight git.
topharry123 Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 Why does it need to be put up on a big screen then? It's just a different way of doing things. In 50 years looking back you probably wouldn't remember a boring 0-0 draw in the freezing cold, but you would remember your name being read out at half time and you would be able to look back at the pictures of the big screen and remember the day. It's not for everyone granted, but there's a lot of people out there that would appreciate someone going to the extra effort of going to the trouble of setting this up with the club. Larry, I sent you a private message that may help you out !
