Simple really, Bamba is the best CB we have got at the club, anyone can see that, once one of the other 2 cost us im sure he will be back in, the sooner the better

The purpose of a defence is to stop the opposition from scoring.

The current back 4 are the best at doing that for me as a unit.

They might be individuals not in that 4 that could argue they are a better player, but they didn't gel into a unit that didn't leak goals, whatever the reasons might have been.

These 4 have, and we must stick with them unless we get any more red cards / injuries.

  • But we haven't seen Bamba with Morgan in the back 4. How can you say this four is better?

But why would we want to experiment with that if the current back four is working? We've experimented too much this season and it has probably been one of the main problems and reasons as to why we haven't been consistent!

I agree, don't tinker now, it's working!

SSL is a quality CB, yet when Bamba plays we concede goals all the time.

SSL and Morgan = the tits

SSL and Bamba = good

Bamba and Morgan = Strength but would look shaky

I believe SSL controls and calms our defence

This.

But also SSL is central to our style of play. We use progressive passing which starts from the defence! SSL is usually a good passer of the ball far better than any other centre back!

SSL has been one our best players over the last 6/7 games, not just since Morgan came in so to talk of dropping him is ridiculous. The back 4 is looking a more settled unit, Pelts looks a lot calmer with Morgan next to him and Konchesky is linking well with SSL on the other side. 90% of defending is organisation and we - finally - look like we're getting that.

Yes Bamba is an excellent player but he'll just have to wait his turn. There are lots of games still to play and I've no doubt he'll get an opportunity soon (Konch getting suspended is an example of this with Kennedy) but for now, keep the same back 4 if we can.

Crikey! That's about the first time I've agreed with you Mack. On this you're spot on IMO.

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.....

I find myself agreeing with you again...

Yes SSL made a mistake! But it didn't cost us the game! All the players make mistakes and then as fan we decide not to like them! Other than his bad pass he had a decent game and him and Morgan have been on fire! If we keep winning and obtaining clean sheets why should we change the back four?

Bamba is good but he's too risky! He's not a Pearson defender he likes to use skill rather than just get rid of the ball! With SSL you can use progressive passing of which has worked well in our last three games so why should we take off a player who has been at the centre of our style of play?

I think you will find its not the first time Ssl has done this.. Bristol city at home just shows a lapse in concentration can land us in hotel water.. Of late ssl has came into his own and not letting go of his shirt so fair play to him.

Yes but this Bristol game happened three games into the season! Generally SSL has performed well recently and deserves his place! Bamba is good but he makes mistakes too consistently for me!

You seem to be a ssl fan? For me ssl an bamba doesn't work.. But ssl and Morgan seems to be working well and long may it continue.

I am indeed! Yeah SSL and Morgan are doing well but there will be a slip up somewhere down the line! Would like to see Morgan and Bamba at some point but I have a feeling that wouldn't work!
