Saxondale Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Mines a 25 1.4 (possibly 1.3 I forget) anyway its lost so much power now it's irrelevant! When I stop at the lights obviously I take it out of gear and the revs don't hold steady, it has started to keep jumping up to about 2000 then back down and up again, weird. If it's a 25 it'll be the 1.4 K-series. If revs aren't holdings steady, it could be as simple as the spark plugs - take them out and check their condition and electrode gap. Failing that, it could be one of the sensors (possibly throttle position sensor), maybe the idle control valve or maybe inlet manifold gasket. Nothing overly worrying / expensive. EDIT: If you do think it's lost power, changing manky old spark plugs can make a lot of difference anyway.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 My head gasket went on mine a few weeks ago, Fiat Punto 02 plate. Cost me £300 to get replaced by a garage in Blaby, I was quoted between £300-475.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 3 September 2012 Author Posted 3 September 2012 My Head Gaskets gone too, no hot air coming from the vents, huge loss of water, engine temp high, I'm just running it into the ground before replacing it now, I also drive a £400 rusty old carrot Hahaha! I like the phrase "lemon" but "carrot" is even better! Cheers for all the help - my dad offered to do it so will know tomorrow if it's salvageable at a reasonable cost. Fingers crossed... (Mods feel free to lock this)
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Chapmans? God no! They cannot even service a car properly. I used A&R Autos.
