Heritage Afternoon Success Leads to Another Date

Last Sunday saw fans of all ages head to King Power Stadium for the first of our Heritage Afternoons hosted by Club Historian John Hutchinson.

Fans were treated to a display of many of the Club’s artefacts and a Stadium Tour which included a focus on memorabilia items which are not often viewed by the public.

With the event proving to be a great success, the next ‘Heritage Afternoon’ event will be held at King Power Stadium on Sunday 28 October (2pm).

The focus this time will be the old Filbert Street Stadium. Micky Bates who created the renowned and truly outstanding model of Filbert Street, (which is now on display in the City Fanstore), will be present and we are currently working on some other ideas to make the afternoon one to remember.

Complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks will also be available and there is free parking at the Stadium.

With tickets for the last event selling out quickly, you can secure your place for this Filbert Street Heritage Afternoon by calling the Sales Centre on 0844 815 5000, by emailing [email protected] , or by booking online atwww.lcfcdirect.com.

Why are the club charging fans to look at their own heritage ? I can't believe it . It just shows what a money grubbing excuse for owners we now have. It is not THEIR heritage they did not buy it along with the club they have no fvcking idea about what this club means to the fans and judging by this latest shitty ripoff never will. :nono: :nono: :nono:

Yeah! Now I think of it, how they have the audacity to charge us for tickets to watch OUR team I'll never know... it beggars belief. And why should I have to pay them £50 for a home shirt for MY team?

Most clubs wouldn't bother doing anything like this, be thankful that the owners recognise the importance of our heritage and afre willing to put on events like this. If there is a demand for it, why should they do it for free? I'd be more than happy to pay to go to something like this.

You must have more money than sense then. It's a poor analogy putting ticket and shirt money against something that costs nothing in wages or production. It costs them nothing to show the exhibits so in answer to your question why shouldn't they do it for free ? The only thing they have recognised is another chance to rip the mugs off.

Be part of our latest Heritage Afternoon as City legends recall memories of our former home.

Following the sell-out success of the first of our Heritage Afternoons organised by Club Historian John Hutchinson, we are planning another event at King Power Stadium at 2pm on Sunday 28 October 2012.

The spotlight this time will be the old Filbert Street Stadium.

Steve Walsh, one of the great heroes of the Filbert Street era, will be present to share his memories of the much-loved old ground in a Q&A session. This is sure to evoke memories of a host of memorable Filbert Street occasions.

Micky Bates, who created the renowned and truly outstanding model of Filbert Street, which is now on display in King Power Stadium Reception, will also be present to talk about the remarkable story behind the construction of the model.

There will be many images of the old ground on show. These include some of the earliest photographs from Fosse times, together with pictures of Filbert Street from each decade since then. There will also be a display of memorabilia about Filbert Street.

It should be an afternoon to remember.

The tickets for the last event went quickly. To secure your place for this Filbert Street Heritage Afternoon on 28 October, call 0844 815 5000, email [email protected], or book on-line at www.lcfcdirect.com.

Ticket prices are £10 for Adults, £7.50 for Under-18s and £ 5.00 for Under-15s.

Complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available and there is free parking at King Power Stadium.

Any chance to have a pop the owners. Of course it costs money to hold an exhibition as well as to preserve whatever they are showing. And you think the owners even have anything to do with this? It was most likely the club historian who came up with the idea and some mid level manager who gave it the ok. Wouldn't be surprised if the owners don't even know it's happening.

So why can't they put all that memorabilia in the club shop like they did with the model of the old Filbert street ? No one was asking anyone to pay to look at that were they? Oh and I would be surprised if the owners did not know about it.

There's not enough room, what they need is the museum but I'm sure they'll charge for that just as a means of controlling the numbers.
