Voll Blau Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 Thinking of doing the exact same fixture actually so any advice you have would be great! Looking at Dusseldorf it seems the better place to stay but the Weeze airport is about an hour away, as our flight would likely to be on a Sunday evening I'm not so sure how frequent transport would be running there. In terms of ticket release for this game do you know the date they are scheduled to be released? Flying back from Weeze at the end of our trip this Sunday. Will let you know how easy/difficult it is to get too! It's miles away from anywhere in any case, literally next to the Dutch border.
Hinckley Fox 3 Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 Flying back from Weeze at the end of our trip this Sunday. Will let you know how easy/difficult it is to get too! It's miles away from anywhere in any case, literally next to the Dutch border. Fly to Dusseldorf International if you can. It has much better transport links. Re the fixtures, the actual set date wont be released for another 3 weeks yet at least. Booked our trip two weeks ago for the 5th to 8th April, can't wait! VB -- Yes that'd be great if you could, looked like it could potentially be a bit of a mission so good luck Maybes - Yes I'm starting to get excited, it's our first European away day so looking forward to it, just getting into the planning really at this stage and making sure there's plenty to do around the area we are staying in once the football is finished!
Hinckley Fox 3 Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Hi Voll Blau, How did you find Weeze airport? Worth the extra effort for the price?
C-man Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Thinking of doing the exact same fixture actually so any advice you have would be great! Looking at Dusseldorf it seems the better place to stay but the Weeze airport is about an hour away, as our flight would likely to be on a Sunday evening I'm not so sure how frequent transport would be running there. In terms of ticket release for this game do you know the date they are scheduled to be released? Never done the flight back from Weeze - so will leave it to Voll Blau to comment on that. Düsseldorf International by far the best airport to fly through as the transport links are superb. Dortmund airport also OK to get to (bus/taxi). As regards tickets for the Dortmund vs Mainz game: 1) Be prepared - register on the Dortmund ticket site and have a trial run of buying tickets. The website is fairly easy to navigate but they have very recently added a step where you need to enter a German mobile phone number. It's a step I haven't worked out how to circumvent yet (unless you have a German friend!) 2) Be online and ready at the exact time they go on sale (7.30 UK time from memory) as they will sell out within minutes. There will be a few odd seats here and there, in particular returns, so keep checking the website if unlucky at first. 3) Don't expect to sit with your mates or get on the Südtribüne 4) Wait until the game time is announced before committing to flight times. I imagine the fixture will be confirmed in 2-3 weeks (probably after the CL 2nd leg) and tickets will go on sale shortly after that. 5) Alternatively you can save all the hassle and get tickets on Viagogo - but be prepared to pay £50 a pop plus charges. Best to leave this method to a couple of weeks before the game as ticket prices come down and you can get them delivered straight to the hotel. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions! Enjoy Dortmund, worth a visit to Wenkers and Lütge Eck in the City Centre and Strobels at the ground
Voll Blau Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Hi Voll Blau, How did you find Weeze airport? Worth the extra effort for the price? Yeah, was dead easy really. One change at Krefeld hbf (where a marching band was playing on the platform ) and then a short bus from Weeze station. Other than that, had an unbelievable weekend. We were right in the middle of this on Friday night: http://www.ultras-tifo.net/match-reports/1392-fc-kaiserslautern-dynamo-dresden-08022013.html You can see me and my mates in a couple of the photos of the Kaiserslautern end. The city itself was pretty boring, nothing going on in terms of nightlife after the game and it's quite remote from other places. That said, it's well worth a visit for the football alone, it was the best game we saw by a long stretch. Great stadium and top atmosphere. There were kids of no older than 13 with their grandma handing out sparklers to us to hold up when the teams came out. In this country they'd no doubt have been cobbed in the cells and given a banning order. The stadium reminded me a lot of Newcastle, high up on a hill and pretty much the focal point of the city. Well worth a visit. We were in the seats above the terrace but 90% of the home end was standing anyway. Saturday meant getting up at 5am (after getting in at 1) for the journey up to Duisburg. Was worth it actually. The line followed the Rhein Valley which was a pretty decent view. Plus there were a load of nutters in fancy dress heading up to carnival in Cologne, livened up the journey. Duisburg itself was pretty dull (plus they're a bit pally with Forest) but we went in the 1860 Munich end and their fans were decent. Probably the equivalent of Man City when they were shite (club with a decent history but most people follow Bayern in Munich). Gabor Kiraly saved a pen for them and their Ultras had a song to the tune of Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield, something I never thought I'd hear. Bochum as always was very enjoyable due to the fact we've got mates there. The game itself was pisspoor, but still buzzing to go over there for their Cup game away at Stuttgart next Wednesday.
C-man Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Bayern away in the Cup a week on Wednesday There must be a few on here who have been to Munich? Any drinking recommendations? Planning on going to Augustiner, as I didn't go there last time I was in Munich - spent most of my time and money in Hofbrauhaus...
Maybes Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 If anyone wants tickets to Borussia Monchengladbach vs Greuther Furth on 6th April I have 7 going at face value. I have the tickets with me now so can post/meet wherever. I've been before and its a cracking ground with a cracking atmosphere. Shame it clashes with Dortmunds fixtures when we go over.
