RedHux Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 We're just doing what you did in previous years. If it doesn't work we'll be doing what you're doing now in a season or two and cutting costs. I very much doubt we're getting round any rules through sponsorship as the league already know about that sort of loophole and have systems in place to make sure everything's above board. It strikes me the real winners with all this ffp are the clubs with parachute payments. The only thing I'm pleased about is that now Davies has no excuse if we don't go up.
Guest MattP Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 I still dont understand why top dosnt just sponser a couple of seats in the ground for a couple of million each. I also dont understand how clubs like forest are getting away with signing whoever they like when they are in a similar situation to ourselves. I work with a few forest fans and they reckon theyve got money from sponsorship from their owners to get around the rules, so why arnt we doing the same if our owners are reported to be worth over a billion. Its looking more and more likely to me that the owners simply dont want to put any more money into the squad, which is worrying, and confusing. Either the forests and watfords of this world are taking a massive risk financially, or were in a worse position than we think we are. As above if Forest don't make it up in two years they will be in the same position as us. As for sponsoring seats. 1. Sponsorship deals have to be seen at a reasonable market 2. He clearly doesnt want to spend much more. 3. He already has sponsorship of the ground and the shirts for £0, why would he pay more for anything?

A clue ..... we're talking about FFP and ways to introduce funds in to the club from the owner's pockets .....
Guest MattP Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 A clue ..... we're talking about FFP and ways to introduce funds in to the club from the owner's pockets ..... He clearly doesn't want to though now does he? Would we even be allowed to sign a contract of sponsorship now with them given the link with the companies?, look at the trouble Man City appearing to having with this fairness commitee and that's just Etihad. Surely somewhere buried in the FFP ruling document you wouldnt be able to sponsor a stadium for nothing then all of a sudden keep the same thing going but claim you paying x amount of million for it?

Personally if i were him I'd pay the going rate .... and if it's questioned then the justification is that it's the market value - the market value clearly isn't 0. You've introduced the rules and and I'm abiding by them .... before they were introduced I didn't have to worry about allocating the money from my other company to a specific reason ... now i do .... there it is, the stadium naming rights.

Let's hope he does. I can't see it though. Be interesting to see how many games they atten next season with the new boardroom structure.

I'm sure they must have people looking at every safe angle to get money in .... Missing the odd game doesn't worry me either .... Thailand is a long way ..... and they've installed a Board for a reason .... so they can step back a bit (and potentially enjoy it a bit more!).
Guest MattP Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Should have installed a board that knew football at the start really.
5waller5 Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Should have installed a board that knew football at the start really. I suppose they thought they installed a very experienced manager that had been on boards and that we had a football man in AN ..... They've learnt through their mistakes ....
Mack Posted 2 August 2013 Posted 2 August 2013 There are clubs about spending bucket loads of dosh. The obvious one is Monaco who have spent a large sum and given their small stadium and even smaller attendances coupled with the smaller Ligue 1 tv deal you wonder how they will cover themselves. My guess is with some clever jiggery pokery there are ways and means that make it very hard to prove where the money is really coming from.
