jonthefox Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 It seems one of our ww1 heroes being denied an honour because of modern day red tape. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-23813190
Orkneyfox Posted 25 August 2013 Posted 25 August 2013 I was born in Ceylon, my Leicester father was in the Royal navy and my mother was Scottish. I came back to the U.K. when I was 15 months old, so by these rules, I'm not eligible either. If he was a Brit, who happened to be born abroad then he should get his memorial. If he was Canadian and brought up here it does say they are doing something else to commemorate that group so I am a bit less sure of that. Maybe he should get both.
