bovril Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Did you stay in hostels and meet people that way? Mostly hostels but sometimes spent a bit of money on a hotel or apartment just to get a peace of quiet and away from the gap-year bollocks - the same travelling conversations get a teeny bit annoying after a while! Also young people are always keen on practising their English and will happily give you a tour of their city or go out for a pint.

I'm looking to go around mid-June, do prices for hostels become cheaper as you get closer to the time? Thanks a lot for your help btw. I'd rep but I'm on my phone.

I travelled in May and June and I didn't book anything ahead, and I didn't need to. It depends where you go though. I can imagine in most big Western European cities you'll need to book hostels in the summer, or at least just phone them up in the morning. In places like Bosnia and Croatia little old ladies would meet the inter-city buses in the morning offering rooms for the night, they were always great places!

Sounds brilliant, can only hope I have as much fun as you did. I love the idea of being able to do what I want when I want, just got to make sure not to try to cram too much in.
