"No, [such-and-such] are good." "You're stupid, [such-and-such] are rubbish." "You know what? You're rubbish." C'mon now, de gustibus non est disputandum (at least I think I got that one right. For those of you who don't speak Latin [including me], "there's no disputing taste.") Anyway, I happen to enjoy Kaiser Chiefs. There, I said it. The first time I heard "Employment," I thought, "Gee, this band sounds like a lot of fun." Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original point of rock-and-roll to be, well, fun? And you know what? I saw them play at Webster Hall in NYC this summer, and sure enough, that show was a lot of fun. The place was packed, everybody was hammered and dancing, and they sounded quite well (or maybe I was drunk?). But if that's not your thing, well, that's not your thing, and I won't hate on your Yanni CDs But everybody knows that there's going to be a ridiculous amount of hype surrounding their follow-up. That can be hard to handle for some folks, so maybe it's a good idea that they're doing a pre-emptive strike.
