How 500 k represents a "Significant January spending spree" I will never know.On top of this the Writer has even got to the effort of finding out our Actual first team and when it comes to who should be retained it seems to be just picking random names out the........ (Mods feel free to move this if this is in the wrong section)
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 He's a Reading fan, it's based on the starting eleven on Monday and clearly mentions at the bottom about players like James and Knockaert who weren't playing in that game but will in the Premier League. Fair enough, I don't know where the "spree" has come from but it's pretty good other than that. Only major thing I'd disagree with is that I think Morgan will be fine.
Soar Fox Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Poor research on the part about a significant spree. Other than that I'm in agreement with him with who needs replacing.
MC Prussian Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Yeah, I don't know how and where we've gone on a "significant spending spree" in January, either. Unless the author knows something we don't. The losses from last season and the shipping out of high earners have already been known for two months and this season's total loss should be a lot less than that. "Kasper Schmeichel doesn't have the presence of his father" - yeah, right. Our starting goalkeeper is still only 26 years old, his father started his illustrious career for Manchester United at age 27/28. In that regard, Kasper has several great years ahead of him to become even better. Schlupp getting the nod over Konchesky on Monday has got more to do with the fact that his speed was crucial in keeping up with McCleary. He talks about Wasilewski to be replaced, when Pearson himself said he wants to keep Marcin for another season. Morgan's downfall of late isn't his lack of pace, he's not that slow - it's got to do with him not being "there" and lacking that composure and consistency we've come to admire the season before. Mahrez has been overlooked in recent years because he was playing in Ligue 2 and because he wasn't ready yet. He's been a revelation this year. All in all, I don't see how you can make predictions about next season in the Premier League based on one single game. Just because some players haven't "set the world alight" in previous years doesn't mean that they can't come good in the future (see his comment about Nugent). A mediocre and somewhat lacklustre effort.
