Donut Posted 31 August 2014 Posted 31 August 2014 Defending as a unit. Making things congested and narrow in front of the box and dont let any space in behind to run into. Chances are against sides with quality in possession, pressing the ball will open up spaces for their creative players to exploit. We did an excellent job today against Arsenal in this way. Yes they had a lot of possession, but most of it was square balls and a large percentage of their efforts on goal were from distance. It takes a lot of discipline and concentration not to go diving in or losing shape, but the whole aim is to contain, to frustrate. It was the perfect approach today.
