muzzy1981 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I know Nige and the gang have all bases covered, but I love a good formation debate so here goes....... With the arrival of new players and others coming back from injury we clearly have a lot more options in terms of systems and formations we play. Having went to Stamford Bridge, where we were brilliant first half, it was clear that at about 60mins we could have done with tightening things up. I could see us in the future playing with one extra in midfield and one up top, against top ten teams: Kasper RDL Morgan Moore Konch Cambiasso Mahrez Drinky King or Powell Schlupp Vardy or Ulloa What are peoples thoughts on future systems etc?
Wilson_6 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Seems weird that when ever i think of a good formation i just cant ever find a space for Matty James. Sometimes not even on the bench.
Stadt Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Ulloa would be too isolated, Dribky or King will be behind Ulloa if we genuinely need 5 in midfield.

I kind of agree, the system would someone playing behind the striker really which is why I have high hopes for Powell. I actually think the system would probably work better with someone like Vardy up top on his own over Ulloa, to suit our fast counter attacking style.
muzzy1981 Posted 9 September 2014 Author Posted 9 September 2014 We actually have the players now to play a system similar to what England played last night. Although I fear our full backs may struggle. A system like England played last night, form what I gather is based on what Liverpool do, we could play the following team. Kasper Moore Morgan RDL Konch Cammby Drinkwater Vardy Powell Schlupp Ulloa
RutlandFox91 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Kasper Simpson Moore Morgan Konch Cambiasso Drinkwater Mahrez 1 of Powell/King/Nugent Schlupp Ulloa
RutlandFox91 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Kasper Simpson Moore Morgan Konch Cambiasso Drinkwater Mahrez 1 of Powell/King/Nugent Schlupp Ulloa Simpson preferred for his defensive qualities and Powell/Nugent to play #10. King to make a triangle midfield with Cambiasso as the base. Plenty of pace with Ulloa there to hold it up and bring others into play just like he has done previously. Vardy to come on in the last 20 when we are up against tired legs./ they're pushing for a winner.
MooseBreath Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Don't see anything wrong with the current formation. Chelsea away is one of the toughest fixtures in world club football, we matched them for 60mins and on another day could easily have gone one up. Play that system that well and we'll get results away at other top half teams.
