  • Player profile

Heath was a homegrown player, born in Leicester who came through the club's youth system and got his first real taste of first-team action in Peter Taylor's final game at the helm, away at Charlton Athletic in September 2001 - he came in to replace Matt Elliott.

After Taylor had gone Heath continued to get his first team chances under Micky Adams and made numerous appearances as the Foxes won promotion back to the Premier League under his guidance. These impressive performances also saw him win a call-up to an England U21 training camp.

He was loaned out to Stockport County to gain some more first-team experience lower down the leagues, and he was rewarded at the back end of that Premier League season when he returned and played in a series of first-team matches.

City suffered relegation back to the Championship but that gave Heath more first-team opportunities at the Walkers Stadium, becoming a regular at the back. With Craig Levein replacing Adams, however, his chances dried up and he opted to follow Adams to his new club Coventry City.

He spent just a year down the road with the Sky Blues before one of Heath's former Foxes team-mates, Dennis Wise, took him to Leeds United on-loan and then on a permanent deal. Heath moved to Colchester and had loan stints at Brighton and Hove Albion and Southend United.
