The tough Bulgarian midfielder arrived at the Walkers Stadium as somewhat of a veteran but still seemingly with plenty to offer after bringing his talents to England with Charlton Athletic, where he spent seven seasons.
Capped over 70 times for his country on his arrival, and featuring in Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup, Martin Allen brought him to the club but he failed to have the desired impact.
He started his career as a right-back but it was Alan Curbishley at The Valley who successfully turned him into a holding midfielder. After a long successful time with the Addicks he suffered relegation with two teams in the 2006/07 season, with Charlton and also with Leeds United, who he was on-loan with.
When Nigel Pearson came in Kishishev got only one League Cup appearance and he went on loan to Leeds again before moving to former club Litex Lovech and then returning to England for a final stint with Brighton and Hove Albion.
