Teeno Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 SPORTS BAR Can't believe this, we need as many fans as possible for Friday, there no good sitting in a bar at the Walkers. Pathetic, we may making money by doing this but losing vital support at the same time.
King Kyle lcfc Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 Not really mate people have already made their mind up by now wether there going or not and i know if i wasn't going i wouldn't go to the sports bar let me think £1.54 a pint down me local or paying an arm and a leg there. There will be a crap atmosphere any way as all the real fans are going to the city ground
Anish Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 Teeno you can't begrudge the club for trying to cash in and making money at the expense of Sky TV. In any case, it's way too expensive to go to the Forest game. I've paid £40 for the ticket and travel but at this time of year many people will have better and more important things to spend their money on - and if not, they are making a stand against Forest's absurd ticketing prices.
Scow Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 We've only sold around 2000 apparently, which I think is pathetic. I know it's £31 a ticket, but this game is supposed to be one of the biggest of the season.

There are some who can afford the £31 but are to bloody tight to part with their money and don't really give a shit.
King Kyle lcfc Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 I got my brother who is a uhh student to go down to the ticket office with his NUS card and my forest ticket and as we have the same initial and surname they refunded me £14 and they also refunded me for my plymouth ticket no questions asked so over the week i've been given £31 by the club so that makes a nice change

Guest Daniel Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 Pathetic doing this, money grabbing fookers. All they think about is making money, its pathetic. I've been waiting to win at Forest for a while now and i aint going to miss it.
Anish Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 Pathetic doing this, money grabbing fookers. All they think about is making money, its pathetic. 46588[/snapback] In my eyes the club's decision to show the game live for free is good business sense. Would you rather see 100 people (or however many go to the 1884 bar to watch it) go down to their local pub and watch it or go to the WS and give money to the football club? At least the club is trying to make money - a prosperous club is morely likely to be successful than a poor football club.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 only sold 2000? remind me of the gates you get at home again?
Guest Daniel Posted 14 December 2004 Posted 14 December 2004 Rich coming from you, wind up. We sell double at home than what you do. Goodnight.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 8 years ago you would of said we sell 20 times more than you but look how far we've come, tis brilliant what was your average gate last season? let me guess, over 30k this season, 20-25k..? and look how many tickets you've sold for a game against your rivals also, we'll be playing in the premiership next season, you wont !
Guest Daniel Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Glad your so proud of your clubs growth, i would be aswel. No need to get cocky and over confident about next season, after all you will be humilated if you go up.
gjp Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Sorry am I missing something here. I have seen Wigan on TV a couple of times this season and the empty seats are everywhere. Do they get larger crowds at their rugby league games and that’s why the need the capacity. Must be great atmosphere. Wigan had some good northern soul nights and not a lot else. So my dad said.
Guest Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Here we go again, Clever-Clogs Wigan Boy comes along with yet more delusions. They're the new Wimbledon, I'm beginning to look forward to watching it all pan out.
kerryh Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 I want to go but living where I do means I will have to travel there alone, park my car, (alone!) and then walk to the ground and back again (alone!) I just wouldn't feel safe!
Stuliasz Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 I am not going to the Forest game but before you jump in and have a go, let me explain my reasons why. Firstly the timing of the game. To move it to a Friday night causes a ridiculous amount of problems for me as it is this Friday that I return home from uni from Sheffield for xmas, and for people who think otherwise, its not as easy just to get home early, drop my bags and drive off to the game. I can't be picked up until after they have both finished work. Secondly, since I have become a student, I have not lessened my passion for Leicester City, just simply managed to cut off to an extent the emotional feeling I have about it to such an extent that it does not interfere with my normal more important daily living. I do not spread my misery to others when we have lost for instance. Now I know a lot of people go on about seeing us actually win at Forest but for me this is not such a special thing as I have only been to see one game in the past since I started going to away games and that was the 2-2 in Division 1 last time around. And to round it all off, it was the ticket prices that completed my decision. I know there is a student price now, but I always go to games with my Dad who is as passionate as me and to go would be an extremely expensive journey for us with £48 on tickets and probably another £20 on top of that for coach travel. This is why it angers me when people say that I am not a true Leicester City fan if I am not going to the game. I would have to be an ultimate die-hard to really make it to the game, and when you are in my financial situation believe me to go to a game at such a ridiculous price when I can watch it elsewhere would not be a sensible way of using up money that I desperately need over the coming months to pay over £1200 by February in university costs. People who have been to university I'm sure can sympathise. So please lay off of us the people who are going. There are more important things than bankrupting yourself by busting your butt to go to this game.
Guest Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Sheff-Fox, I have posted elsewhere, and will post again. I'm very lucky that I can afford both the time and money to go to games like this. I was once a hard-up student, who could barely afford to get to the home games, let alone dream of going to away matches. I can remember the days of having to listen to a Sports Time Special, and anyone who ever questioned my loyalty during those days would have received the same treatment my mother's armchair got during the ZDS Cup area final commentary live from the City Ground!! I can understand why people are not going to this match; I do question my own intelligence knowing full well I will be contributing to Forest's coffers when I could spend the money on something more useful, like a new top for a Xmas do, or even giving it to a worthwhile cause! There are many reasons why people are not going to this game, and I won't be criticising anyone for it.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 new wimbledon ha ha! drinks all round, what you havin lisa? BITTER? or are you alright with those sour grapes in that mouth ''Sorry am I missing something here. Or perhaps that deranged world you appear to live in has got the better of you?
Foxes_Trust Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 'Loyal City fans' come in a variety of forms. Some 3,000 + loyal fans chucked in a tenner in the Trust's direction to help save the club. However some of them hadn't been to the ground in years, yet others who have been to every home & away game didn't choose to contribute. Other loyal fans have been Season Ticket holders in the time that our home crowd consisted of 7,000 but have never been to an away game. Then there are fans that collect the entire merchandise range but go only occasionally. Fans who follow their club all over the land in reality are not contributing financially to the club by doing so (unless say using Fox travel), however their support may encourage the players to obtain 3 points which may give a financial return particularly in the Premiership where 1 place higher raises £500k+. So what do you define as a loyal fan?

I'm sure you released some pent up emotion with your statement but really it's not necessary, ignore those who are ignorant enough to spout this loyalty rubbish they always pop out of the woodwork now and again and obviously have very little experience of the reality of life. Good luck with your studies you don't get too many opportunities in life to better yourself but I'm pretty sure we'll play Forest again sometime. wink.gif
Jonesy_rules Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Sheff_fox i agree, my sis comes back the same day as u, however, due to me and my dad wanting to go Forest, as we've not been away since Rotherham the other year, we thought this was a good trip to go to! however if i couldn't afford the ticket (luckly had just been payed) then we wouldn't, cuz it's not fair on my da to pay for me, as we go every game together! We've now got to pick my sis up after the game, this resulting in us gettin home late, and having ot get up early the next day (well me anyway)! As for the student and cuttin it out, i'll soon no what you mean, as next year i'm hoping to go to Uni, not in leicester, which means the travel and prices would be too high! sure you'll watch it on tv tho?
gjp Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Oh come on next you will be telling me how big your club is and how many trophies you have won .what is your average gate? Has your forum only got 2 members on it yourelf and yourself and thats why your on ours.I am willing to put a few quid on your team bottling it .
