I know it’s not. I didn’t go university. I didn’t want to. I started working, got a good job then landed a decent apprenticeship and now have a steady, ‘well above average’ job and wage. I think if anything needs investment then it’s apprenticeships and trainee roles. You’re right, it should be a little easier to find the right apprenticeship or job at 18.

Bit of a difference between the commitment of university and switching apprenticeships or starting college/a job. Yesh some learn life skills, probably most. But some come back even worse😂

Maybe that exact apprenticeship wasn’t quite right? Id also imagine that not everyone who doesn’t go to university goes straight into an apprenticeship.

Around 5-6% of uni students drop out. Less than half work in jobs relating to their degree. Way too many people go to university and are unfairly pushed towards it IMO.

I’d have more faith in a few hundred grand being handed down from one gen to the next being put to good use than under most governments. Say I inherited loads of money, I’d pay off the mortgage and therefore be paying more of my own money into the local economy through purchases (paying VAT on it) Id also do the gaff up, more money for local businesses as well as more VAT. I’ve never inherited a thing, for the record. Me and the Mrs earn over 100K combined and are definitely less well off than we were 18 months ago.

Well yes because they essentially told people that Brexit would give us control of our borders and limit immigration, which hasn’t happened. So yes, it was either a lie or it simply hasn’t been done properly.

Hard to pinpoint exactly how much of an effect Brexit has had with Covid and the War in Ukraine but it has been a failure. (Although our economy is still stronger than Frances’s and Germany has at no point accelerated ahead of us at a quicker rate) Most likely voted Brexit due to immigration which obviously still hasn’t been addressed properly. (Largely because our hands are tied)

So the mess was in part due to the global crisis? Bit like part of the mess currently is down to Covid?

I bloody hope not. Tbh I think there’s no way they get reelection. The reasons why they got in power have now been found out and casual labour voters are likely to vote elsewhere or not at all after the calamity of these 15 months.
