Lots of airplane and helicopter accidents lately:
Ubisoft co-founder Claude Guillemot dead after his Cessna crashed into an airfield in La Baule.

No way this one ends 11 vs 11
Bingo.
Almiron couldn't leave his trap shut.

From the director who gave us some of the worst films ever, this one could be something noteworthy:
Yes, it's an Uwe Boll movie.

The fans that can afford it (or even just those that can get a visa) are loving it.
It was always going to present as a good world cup because America has the infrastructure needed to host it properly. Even if pitches are terrible.
But only the good and the great or those that have spent their last penny have got tickets.
FIFA's greed goes hand in glove with America's "big number good" mindset.
As for affordability, it's a question of supply and demand. As we've heard of late, FIFA couldn't sell all their tickets, so prices dropped.
Nobody's forcing you to buy a 2000+ USD ticket. These prices aren't exactly new.
Also, if you're looking at experiencing a World Cup, that leaves you about three to four years in between tournaments to save enough money for tickets, the trip as well as expenses. In the end, it's a matter of budgeting. For many, it'll probably remain a one-off experience of a lifetime.
Imagine what it'd be like hosting a World Cup in Europe right now, it's even more expensive for Americans, Canadians and pretty much every other country. Have you checked the exchange rates recently?
As for the visa, it works both ways.
I've mentioned this previously, but not a lot of complaints from fans with regards to traveling to Qatar or Russia in recent years...
I wonder how previous WC ticket prices compare adjusted for inflation (and income).

Club shop a spitting image of this glorious season that saw us getting relegated:
Quantity over quality.

Glad it's still out and people are still going to see it, 3 months later. Great film, brilliant cast and stunning cinematography.
Where I'm at right now, they're showing pretty much all Tarantino movies, plus Il Gattopardo, True Lies, The Warriors, The Deer Hunter or Grave of the Fireflies, among others.
Spoilt for choices.

Lost in the Boston Beer Party.

Very, very poor from Australia.

I hardly ever re-watch movies that are out in theatres.
But Project Hail Mary is/was absolutely worth it.

The count down before kick off is bloody awful, tacky and full of cringe.
Please stop it, America. Makes you sound thick.
It's played in Canada and Mexico, too, is it not?

The US hate is rather strong in this thread, a lot of "expecting to fail". Don't know why. Must be TDS.
They clearly are the better team and the ref's decision was correct.

hahahaha the americans clearly don't understand offside as they clapped for a good 15 seconds after the flag went up
Guy with the header didn't seem offside to me.
EDIT: And the goal has been given. 2-0 to the Soccerboys.

Unlucky with that own goal. That speed on the US winger, though... Cut through the Aussie defense like butter.

How the fvck did Qatar manage to draw against Switzerland? Feel for Kone but what a win for Canada, some decent goals in the mix and more or less through to the knockouts
Switzerland's lacklustre, minimalist attitude, arrogance and poor mentality. Thought one goal would suffice.
Just like the Czech Republic against South Africa.

That's on the South Korean keeper. Bad mistake.
1-0 Mexico
-
Not sure whether the audience is booing because of South Korea or their own national team.
Probably both.
-
Canada trying not to embarrass the opposition too much. How Canadian.
EDIT: There's the sixth.

Any recommendations as to Smartwatches that work fine with an iPhone, apart from the obvious choice?
Been looking at the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 lately. Just love the aesthetics, battery life is so-so, though.
