  1. So all you need is a data burning program or am I missing something?

It's a strange case. With most DVD files, I don't have any issues with.

For instance, after burning another three to four copies today (all of them working fine, btw), it looks like there's an issue with that one particular movie. NTI CD & DVD Maker always ends and completes the burning process without copying the files completely (the now-famous 77 percent).

I have no clue what's actually causing this.

All I know is, I lost like 15 useless burnt DVDs in the process.

Oh well, buy me a new stash next week.

  2. Here's a question regarding software:

I do have NTI CD&DVD-Maker Gold installed on my ACER laptop (it came along as part of the package).

I do safety copies of my DVDs onto an external hard drive (by compressing them using DVD Decrypter followed by DVDShrink).

In order to burn those copies onto blank DVDs, NTI CD & DVD Maker is essential.

Up until a few weeks back, I could burn copies easily just by running the regular process (I do that via "Data DVD").

But now, I hardly ever have a DVD completed at all. Most of the times, the burning process stops either at 42, 77 or 87 percent. As a result, there's parts of the information missing on the disc and the DVD won't start properly.

It seems like the whole shabang starts later than usual and the speed is also slowed down for some reason.

Am I overusing (and thus overheating) my DVD drive or is it just regular "wear and tear"?

Or should I download another, more reliable program?

  3. Had one of those wonderful "I don't give a shite, it's the weekend" Sundays.

Slept long enough, enjoyed a rich breakfast, read the Sunday's newspaper(s), chilled out the entire day, then went to a concert about which I had to write a review for my local newspaper.

    Easy.

Now for some Faith No More.

    Aaah.

  4. Different people react in very different ways, Alex.

    Point taken.

Still baffles me how much TV coverage THEY get out of a sudden, when there are hundreds, if not thousands of similar cases throughout Europe, remaining unexposed.

Kinda sad day for the Media, in my opinion.

  5. What surprises me most, still after all these weeks is the calm and even cold way the couple withhold their feelings.

They're on TV all week, giving out statements on a daily basis all emotionless.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't parents usually a bit more emotional?

  6. To bump this very worthwile thread back up, let me name you some of my favourites. Because it'd turn out way too long, I restrain myself and will only come up with the directors:

    Wes Anderson

    Hal Ashby

    Ingmar Bergman

    Charlie Chaplin

    Alfred Hitchcock

    Spike Jonze

    Buster Keaton

    Takeshi Kitano

    Kryzsztof Kiéslowski

    Stanley Kubrick

    Akira Kurosawa

    Robert Lepage

    Terrence Malick

    Jean-Pierre Melville

    Otto Preminger

    Andrei Tarkovsky

    Lars Von Trier

    Denis Villeneuve

    Billy Wilder

And if you haven't done it yet, get Rian Johnson's "Brick" on DVD, a brilliant Neo-Film Noir!

  8. Joseph Campbell - The Hero With A Thousand Faces

    0691017840-books-resized200.jpg

This man is a genius. Storytelling at its best. Everybody who's interested in the creation of myths and the spine structure of human societies throughout the entire world should read this masterpiece.

  9. Seeing that the "What are you listening to?" thread is still very popular, I thought I should start with something similar in the literature division.

I assume you're all still aware of the fact that there are books out there. You know, those weird square things you can get at bookstores or libraries. Pages and stuff...

    Anyhoo, I'm into

Joseph Campbell - The Power Of Myth

Right now. Wonderful read of a recorded conversation with one of the world's most famous generalissimi...
