whilst Will can play in the left or the right, he’s primarily used down the middle, as an CM, AM or a number 10.

At Cardiff he spent the majority of his time on the left or right, from the games I watch for both Cardiff and Huddersfield that where he been most effective.

I lot will depend on who stays and who goes as to where he will get a opportunity.

What? lol we never had anyone miles better than them to replace them they were already stars with bags of potential and ability

who is this star on the left you think we should develop in his place?

Alves, maybe not a star, but has scored and assisted in the championship and in League 1.

Plus he is our, if Monga stays I'd develop them both, but if he goes I'd be looking to develop Alves and bring another young winger.

Not loan a player back who we have sold.

You said if he leaves he doesn't want to be here, but even if he did the club would likely want/have to sell regardless. Not everyone that leaves a club actually wants to leave, hence why I said in general, Monga likely does want to leave, but leaving doesn't always equate to wanting to go.

    Fair point.

He’s shown skill  that no one else at our club has shown, except maybe   Fatawu.  he would absolutely walk all over the 1st Division, plus he already, at not even 17, is miles better than anyone we would be able to attract to the club.

i just think this whole ‘ develop our own talent ‘ is all a bit naive, because it presumes that person we bring in is going to progress,  we should be willing to do whatever it takes to get out of the 1st division

Good job you weren't in charge when Barnes, Chilwell and KDH came though

Development of your own players is never naive, if it was why do club spend millions on academies?

Short term thinking is what got us in this mess.

because the difference in quality could be huge. And it could be a case of ‘ promotion at all costs’ and you need the absolute best players possible to do that.

I've not seen anything last season to say he going to take league 1 by storm, have you?

    13 minutes ago, MPH said:

besides, how do you know that player you want to develop, will develop? Maybe he won’t kick on? And then you are left with an inferior player not progressing  all because you wanted to look to the future. If that’s the case, the future might still be in league 1

Still better to develop a player you own then a playet you don't.

Like less season we would have been better investing minutes in Page rather then developing Muskasa for Man City!

In general leaving doesn't necessarily mean you don't want to be here does it, I imagine regardless of his thoughts, the club would be basically forcing him out as he's actually worth something

You think his begging to stay?

Really hope we at least try and get him back here on loan and have a decent percentage sell on clause.

Why develop a player for them, when we can developing someone still here?

If he leave he doesn’t want to be here, we have sent enough time playing player who don't want to be here.

If part of the deal was that he came back on loan this season, do you think you’d want that? I’d be torn on having him if we’re developing for someone else but obviously if it clicks with him, he’d be a monster in league 1

I'd rather give Alves minutes than develop him for someone else.

Think this has shown up in another thread, but there is NO WAY we should be loaning-out-with-a-view-to-maybe-buying any of our dead wood this summer, sell them and get them gone. We don't need this loser hanging around the club like a bad smell, he's already made those comments about 'not signing for Leicester to play in League One' - well he can go as soon as he likes far as I'm concerned.

Maybe the only option, his been so poor.

We probably came close to having that in the Champ last year.  Look where that got us.

We don't have a bigger wage bill because we have better quality players ... it's precisely the poor recruitment that has hamstrung us with an overpaid, lazy and uncommmitted squad.

What makes you think any of that is going to change in div1?

Your taken my point out of context.

However the squad will look very different come the start of the session.

Birmingham had the luxury of smashing the League One transfer record and had the most expensive ever squad at that level (£25m on transfers and £39m wage bill)

Whereas we'll be hamstrung by finances unless Aiyawatt finds a spare £25m down the back of the sofa, and it's exceedingly unlikely that we'll recruit as well as they did

We will still have a squad and wage bill bigger then the rest of league 1.

Will there actually be that much money from El Khannouss once you take off his book value?

His book value will be less if we kick into next accounting period, so will have a more positive swing on the books.
