  1. and kudos to whoever is writing the daily reports on the LCCC website. Informative, honest, detailed and humorous. I hope they don't get the LCFC website bug and stop blathering on about the crowd being the 12th man blah blah blah
  2. Won by six wickets. What a fabulous start to the season, and lets hope this gives them real momentum. Super to see players like White really making a mark, and we have MacDonald to come!
  3. collecting for the Birch's charity run by the looks of the group running round the edge of the pitch. Some things never change then! You made your City debut just before me. Mine was a 0-1 home defeat to West Ham, with Clyde Best scoring the only goal. As I sit here now I can still conjure up my view of the game from my seat in the Main Stand, sitting with my Dad, a mere 35 years ago. And this Sunday, if the game goes ahead, I'll be there with my Dad to celebrate his 86th birthday, along with my 13 year old City loving son. Those pictures have made me quite whimsical
  4. trouble is for it to be an investment there has to be some possibility of a return. What LCCC would need is someone quite simply prepared to donate hundreds of thousands of pounds for the love of the Club without expecting any return. Not that many people have that kind of available money, or indeed the inclination. County cricket would not survive without handouts from the ECB as a result of the international game. Much though I would hate to see it happen it wouldn't be a surprise if a number of Counties went the wall in the next ten years
  5. first team caps awarded to Taylor and New today, congrats to them. Just a hint of things improving a little at Grace Road. Lets hope they finish this season well, manage too recruit a couple of players to strengthen the team, and challenge for promotion next season.
  6. Nixon opening the batting today in a four day game. 39 not out at lunch. Really hope he goes on and gets a big one. I think this is a cracking move. It means we have more experience in the team, and whilst it means Boyce is not playing in this game, he needs a rest I think. Important months ahead for the Club. There is the basis of a good team there. Nixon and Dips should score loads of runs, and Taylor looks superb. Smith, Boyce, New and Cobb have loads of potential, but need to turn handy 20s into 80s and more. Naik and Hendo look like decent spinners too. Fast bowling is a problem. Not convinced the likes of White, Gurney and Harris are the solution. O'Brien should be good enough, and I wonder if Malik will get a new contract if he is fit? One top order batter, and even more importantly, one decent fast bowler are what we need now
  7. Oh yea of little faith. We bowl Essex out for 165 and finish day two 230 odd for three. This team seems to be playing in the image of Nixon, and clearly has some backbone. If only some of that backbone could be loaned to the Walkers........
