Concerned that we're not hearing any noise regarding anyone coming in to replace Thomas & Kristiansen. Doyle's role is very specific in that he's a wide centre back but is required to defend on the left of a back 4 off the ball and the only senior player I think can also do this is Justin, although his passing isn't as penetrative and he's injury prone so one bad injury to Doyle and we're ****ed. Same goes for the other full back position as Justin is also backup for Ricardo's role. Seems incredibly risky to go into the season basically relying on no injuries when Seagrave is famously cursed.

I really liked his willingness to make runs off the ball. So many times in the first half especially he was on his bike looking for a ball over the top but they were rarely played. Even if the pass doesn't come, it will worry defenders as they'll be thinking in the back of their minds he could burst in behind them at any time. It looked like he wasn't quite sure what to do when he got the ball in the first half in terms of 1v1s but improved massively towards the end. Hopefully his confidence will grow as the season goes on and he can be more of a threat in the box cos if he does he'll be a massive player for us.

Didn't think he was doing that badly in the air today until he got eased out of the way by 5ft9 Matt Godden 😂 absolutely no way we can get promoted if he has a long run in the team, any opposition with any kind of pace will cause us problems.

Match Ratings: Leicester City 2-1 Coventry City - Vote Now
foxesfan98 replied to Mark's topic in Leicester City Forum
Thought McAteer looked decent today, nothing special but showed good control to keep the attacks alive especially for the second goal. Doyle and Vestergaard both great in terms of passing but looked so slow and communication seemed to be lacking which could be a worry against pacier players going forward. Winks controlled the game and read things well but I hope he toughens up over the course of the season. He sometimes dallies on the ball and gets muscled off it too easy but at least it happened on the halfway line and not on the edge of our box. Mavididi could be a brilliant signing, his confidence grew throughout and he was so dangerous in the last 20 mins. His pace could be a really useful out ball when we need to kill games off this season. Just need to get a similar profile of winger on the other side now. -
From the friendlies so far it seems Enzo is using more pacy, direct wingers on the left and slightly deeper wingers to play passes in behind to the striker or midfield runner on the right. This could just be out of necessity but I wonder if these are the profiles of wingers he wants for each side similar to Man City. Mavididi would definitely fit the bill as a pacy ball carrier much like Grealish on the left and could be very dangerous at this level. Man City use Mahrez or Bernardo Silva on the right who aren't as pacy but can unlock a defence with their passing/technical ability, so will be interesting to see if this is what he looks for when recruiting for that side.

Danish journalist says he's passed a medical. Surely we've not actually got a deal done quickly?!
-
Tbf I'm pretty sure Coady did his medical on a Thursday and we didn't announce it til the Saturday so I'd guess it'll be announced tomorrow. God knows why the club are so slow with it though.

Not saying anyone's opinion is wrong at all. My point was that a few are saying his stats are poor but that was the league above so it doesn't mean as much so we should bear that in mind before fully writing off someone who hasn't kicked a ball for us yet. This would definitely have been an underwhelming signing had we stayed up and possibly still could be now so can totally see where you're coming from. I'd also argue that referring to anyone with the same viewpoint as me as 'Perspective FC' and hoping we 'die off' is a lot more belittling than anything I've said.
-
I think we should bear in mind that any stats for Coady for the last few seasons will be for the prem which we are no longer in. Of course they won't look as good last season when Everton were shite and for most of the season didn't play a system that suits him or left him on the bench. Feels like people are still thinking we're in the prem and expecting us to sign Fofana level players when in reality the team is crying out for leadership, experience and quality which this guy has a lot of. Sure, £8.5m is a lot but it's not like we're going to be strapped for cash and if we go straight back up it'll be worth it.
-
Not sure why I expected anything else nothing to see here then
-
Where has this Thomas rumour come from? Genuinely been looking for ages and not seen a single report.
-
Seriously does he even start for Villa? They play a double pivot and they've already got Kamara who's better defensively and Luiz who already has the role of the guy who scores a few bangers every season but can also actually run. I get the feeling they've signed him to mostly play the Conference League games and he'll want to leave after a year.

So, Players for the Championship rebuild, who do you want?
foxesfan98 replied to Sir Shep's topic in Transfer Talk
This team walks the league: Iversen Justin Souttar Faes Kristiansen Gustavo Hamer Dewsbury-Hall Amad Diallo Ilias Chair Jaidon Anthony Cameron Archer Manager: Jon Dahl Thomasson -
Exactly the sort of signing we should be looking at. QPR have been on a downward spiral so he may look to push for a move to lower the price. Had the highest expected assists in the league in a pretty poor side so would be a top player surrounded by better players. Also think we should look at Chris Willock from QPR too as a wide option.
-
We'll definitely need a whole new midfield and wingers in the Championship so we should be looking to pluck the best younger players who are already doing it at that level from mid-table teams like: Ilias Chair Jack Clarke Chris Willock Tyrese Campbell Tahith Chong Adam Wharton Regan Slater Zian Flemming Billy Mitchell Gabriel Sara Dan Neil
-
Would love us to sign Jack Clarke from Sunderland regardless of if we're relegated or not. I've seen a fair amount of them this season and he looks so direct and dangerous on the left wing every time. Scored 9 goals and is the joint top assister in the league with 11. Would be a great replacement for Barnes and actually takes the full back on. Obvs will depend if Sunderland win the playoffs.

Ric Flair Live & Direct on BSLB Podcast
foxesfan98 replied to Ric Flair's topic in Leicester City Forum
They should be piping this podcast into the dressing room so that the players can understand what this club means to us fans. Everyone at board level should also be strapped down and forced to listen to Ric's rant to knock some sense into them because the recent decision making has been crazy and he nailed every point. -
I was really pleased for the players yesterday for not only grinding out the result but doing it without our two top scorers and most important players. Considering a lot of that team have been fringe players for a year or two, it showed that there's still enough quality in the squad to get us out of this mess. Turns out all it took to bring it out of them was having a manager that didn't tell them all they're shit every week. Although please Deano never ever play Daka on the wing again 😂
-
I'd like to see Praet given a chance to play in his actual position for this one since KDH is out. Him and Mendy in midfield should be solid enough with and without the ball with Maddison in front and it would also be funny if the midfield that keeps us up is made up of two players that Rodgers didn't rate but are clearly good enough. Ricardo and Iheanacho also have to start this one, we need to attack from the start and get the crowd going.
-
I'd have understood if he wanted to bring on Ndidi for defensive solidity as we were getting carved open at times but Soumare is infamous for not tracking runs and also isn't better on the ball than Mendy. Rodgers just thinks he is because he'll roll the ball under his foot every few minutes. Was glad to see the fans booing the decision as at least Mendy will see that he's being appreciated by the fans if not the manager.
-
Would be absolutely peak Leicester to buy someone for big money and send a player we might need as cover the other way only to find out he can't play for 6 months tbf
-
Honestly if we get him as well as Tete I'd be very happy. He can play on the wing on both sides so would be cover that we desperately need and means we don't have to start Barnes every game. Got a decent delivery on him as well so would offer something different in attack. Leeds fans seem to really like him as well which is always a good sign.
-
I've always felt bad for Perez as he's clearly so much better in the number 10 role than he is out wide. Was always a bizarre decision from Rodgers to sign him to be our starting RW considering he didn't even play there much for Newcastle. Always worked hard and did a job when in the team and not his fault he cost £30m. If he'd have cost £10m he wouldn't have got anywhere near the amount of stick he has from our fans. If he plays in his actual position at Betis then he'll cruise that league so good luck to him.
-
Based on these stats he seems exactly like what Brendan wants in a full back which gives me hope that he's been properly scouted and isn't just another Vestergaard panic buy. Looks like he can bomb up and down the wing all game like Castagne but has a bit more stature and bite to his game. The 'gets forward whenever possible' trait suggests he's more positive on the ball than Thomas as well so considering he's so young and has a lot of room to improve, I'm actually very happy with this. Could turn out to be another inspired Fofana-esque signing.

Di Marzio just tweeted Fiorentina have rejected our final offer and we'll be moving onto other targets. So basically we've wasted a week of the transfer window trying to negotiate when it was obvious we'd never be able to pay what they wanted. If we aren't able to get a RW in time before the window closes because of this then Rudkin needs to be sacked on the spot. With Ouattara and Tsygankov already on the move, our only hope now is that we can get Madueke for £30m and hope his injury problems are behind him.
