Tbf as a coach he's basically just there to run the players through drills so not a huge issue as long as he has limited input towards tactics. Plus he's a good bloke who will want to change the culture so hopefully his attitude will rub off on the youngsters.

On the point of Challinor not being linked - I'm pretty sure Marti hadn't been mentioned all summer until Percy tweeted about him and then a couple of days later he was appointed so I wouldn't rule it out. Honestly I just assume all stories that don't come from Percy are bullshit anyway so I'm not worried too much about the Martin stuff.

Can't even blame that on the manager when the players he has to work with can't pass the ball 10 yards. Even the successful passes are slightly underhit or behind their target. The only midfielder we have that can get the ball forwards is desperate to leave and we don't even look to be recruiting to replace anyone who does go (for minimal fees). You have to worry about the development of the young prospects when the games they do feature in, they're surrounded by bozos. Never thought I'd feel so dejected and helpless about my club this time 5 years ago.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
foxesfan98 replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Just seen Ralph Hassenhuttl has been sacked by Wolfsburg. It would be the most Leicester City thing possible to get half of the defence and then the manager of the team that we beat 9-0. -
I know our standards are low at this point but he looked composed on the ball and was always looking to go forward, which is better than most in our team. I'd keep giving him the last 15 mins off the bench every week to ease him into senior football.
-
Weren't we at one point in October the only team to have scored in every game with exactly the same squad that we have now? But sure, it must be the players' fault we've only scored in 5 of the 17 games since Ruud came in. I mean if playing Daka, Reid and Ayew out wide instead of Mavididi doesn't work then I don't know what will.
-
Tip for anyone who plays FPL - transfer in whichever right winger comes up against this guy every week. They are guaranteed to be allowed a free run at the penalty area, shown onto their strong foot and get at least an assist. You can thank me later.
-
It would help if we actually used the right players though. The only pacy wingers we have were left on the bench while Ayew played 90 mins again. It's going to be a loooong last few months of the season.

Honestly not arsed about losing due to an officiating mistake. What bothers me more is the fact that we don't ever look like we're trying to score goals. Every game it's the same with the wrong players selected and Bilal having to everything on his own. If you can only score 1 goal a game then you have to at least be solid at the back which we know we'll never be, so surely the plan should be to at least give the fans something to cheer and if we go down at least we'll have put up a fight. Never been more certain an attack is about to die as when Ayew gets the ball and I'm just fed up.

Agree - I wouldn't want to donate to something that shows messages dragging certain players no matter the intention behind it, especially for a player who hasn't done much wrong and is by no means the reason we're in this mess.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
foxesfan98 replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Really feel for Ruud tonight. He picked the correct starting lineup and set the team up well to limit shots against us whilst still creating chances and we played some nice football. Unfortunately for him we just don't have any quality defenders and our only good striker is 38 and currently looks absolutely shot of confidence. Clearly we aren't planning to back him with money this window so not sure where we go from here. I just hope he sticks around in the Championship and oversees a complete overhaul of the squad to give us some hope for the future cos it's looking so bleak right now. -
Brentford 4 Leicester 1 Post Match Thread.
foxesfan98 replied to Muzzy_no7's topic in Leicester City Forum
One thing that really alarmed me today was the lack of intelligence from our midfielders. Both of them were stepping up to join the front 3 pressing so once Brentford won the ball back there was about 40 yards of space in front of our defence that they could run into. They might have been told to do this by Dawson as he clearly knows **** all but surely they would have enough about them to recognise that one of them needed to stay back. It also didn't help that they were both shocking on the ball and rushed everything. -
I wouldn't normally believe that Rudkin would go but everything seems to be pointing towards a reshuffle. It just seems too convenient that in the space of a few days both us and Leuven have sacked the managers, Top has made himself solely responsible on Companies House and now there are reports that he's taking control of recruitment of the manager and players. Even if he isn't officially sacked, this can only be a positive thing as the less input Rudkin has the better off we'll be.

Exactly, the only time this season that we looked like we had a plan was the first half against Forest when we played Enzoball with Ricardo inverting. Even then Cooper abandoned it after an hour and just started throwing on attackers randomly hoping we might fluke a goal.
-
I've seen a lot of neutrals saying this is a terrible decision following it up by saying 'they'd be better off playing shit and staying up than playing nice football and going down'. Why do people think those seem to be the only two options? Is it that unbelievable that a newly promoted team can play football that the fans can actually get behind and do well? Leeds, Wolves, Brentford & Fulham all did well in their first seasons in recent years with similar quality squads than we have now. Last season showed that these players are capable of it so don't see why they can't do it in the prem where there are some awful teams this season.
-
Most games this season I've come away thinking most of the players have individually done ok and put in the effort but the overall team performance is always shite. We constantly look like we're playing with 10 men when we go forward and we can't defend as a unit to save our lives. That has to be on the manager. I'm not saying Justin hasn't been poor this season but I'm pretty sure the reason we're conceding so many from his side is because Cooper tells him to push so high up which leaves that huge gap behind him. He also doesn't offer any quality to the attack so the whole tactic is pointless. But he won't ever change it so there's no point even being annoyed about it anymore.
-
I remember him looking amazing at Moscow away in the Europa League. He ran the midfield and Daka scored 4 😂 got to be up there with Tete at Villa for the most misleading performance of all time
-
That's true, although the way this season is going we could either be in the relegation area or up in 12th by the international break and I'm sure we'd all still feel just as fed up either way.
-
Does anyone really think there's a chance he'll be sacked if we lose tomorrow? I think it would tip me over the edge but I'm worried that the board won't take action as we won two games recently (which we were both lucky to win) and the fact that we're not in the relegation area.
-
Yeah he'd be decent there but you'd think Glasner will have enough credit in the bank after their end to last season to be given more time then we'll give Cooper.
-
It's absolutely killing me watching MNF with Potter breaking down his tactics and principles. Likes to build with the GK stepping into the backline, with threats out wide and the 8s pushing forward but seems tactically flexible enough to be willing to adapt to the opposition. Would've been such an easy transition for the players to go from Enzo to him and also maximises the strengths of some of our best players (Hermansen, Mavididi, Fatawu) so if we act now then there's still hope. I'm not bothered if he's not particularly charismatic, as long as he can build an identity for the team and actually look to win games he'll be a miles better option that Cooper. If you asked him to break down his tactics like this I genuinely don't think he'd be able to, he just seems to send them out in a general rigid shape that never changes and hopes for the best.
-
Actually don't mind this as long as we do actually bring in those other 2 attackers and they're decent. Seems like a player that's experienced, tidy on the ball and works hard which is what you want in a backup player. He'll just be a stand-in for Fatawu on the right so that McAteer can go and play a full season in the Championship I'd imagine.
-
The fact that we're apparently willing to spend around £25m on a wonderkid and even £5m on Golding who's made 1 senior appearance makes me wonder if we actually have way more money to spend than we thought this summer. Hopefully the money we've saved on wages by a lot of big earners leaving in the last 2 summers means we can start being ambitious again and get a quality striker in for £20-30m.

Positives on the impending Cooper appointment
foxesfan98 replied to CrazyKopCorner's topic in Leicester City Forum
Realistically, we're a newly promoted team with a potential hefty points deduction and a lack of ability to spend. The fact that any half decent manager would be keen on joining is a miracle so I don't think we can afford to be picky. Potter clearly wasn't convinced and that's ok, you can't force someone to join if they don't want to. In our position, bringing in a guy who got promoted from the championship recently and then kept Forest in the prem after a complete squad overhaul is a decent appointment. Some are acting as if bringing Cooper in is what's going to ruin the club but the damage has already been done at board level, we just have to accept that until that changes, this is the best we can do. We just need to survive this season by any means necessary and then we can reset the finances and build again from scratch. -
Thought he put in a real good shift today and went hunting to win the ball back when we lost it. In the first half, he kept having to come central to receive the ball from the keeper as he was the only one with the technique to advance it for us. Once Ricardo came on to do this it looked like Yunus had more freedom and got it in more advanced areas. I wouldn't mind seeing him start on Tuesday and rotate with KDH between the two 8 positions.
