https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/what-next-alves-after-leicester-10420257 What next for Will Alves after Leicester City absence with Marti Cifuentes 'sure' over role Will Alves has a role to play at Leicester City this season, Marti Cifuentes has said, despite the young attacker missing out on involvement against Sheffield Wednesday. Alves showed his ability and his Championship credentials in moments last season when he enjoyed his first proper spell in a senior squad after heading out on loan to Cardiff. The 20-year-old was expected to return to City and take up a prominent position in the team following the club’s fall into the second tier, but he was an unused substitute in the final pre-season friendly and then did not make the bench on Sunday, albeit he was with the squad at the King Power Stadium. But Cifuentes says Alves will get his chance this term, and so he could be in the matchday squad for the Carabao Cup first round at Huddersfield on Wednesday (7.45pm kick-off). “I’m very happy with Will,” Cifuentes said. “He’s had a very good pre-season. “It’s my responsibility that he didn’t play any minutes against Fiorentina unfortunately, but that’s one of the consequences when you have such a big squad. “He’s doing well. I like his dynamism, his capacity to play in between the lines. He can play on the wing as well if we need a certain kind of winger. “I want him to be here and I’m sure he will get minutes to show his quality.” Alves came up through the ranks as a central attacking midfielder, but was used out wide by Cardiff last term. That’s also the position in which former City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy saw his future. However, in Cifuentes’ system, Alves is more likely to be used centrally, and so would be a rival to the likes of Bilal El Khannouss and Louis Page. He would only be used as a winger in certain circumstances. Cifuentes added: “It depends on the system, not the formation, but sometimes you might have a winger that you want to come inside, and that’s something he can really do. “If it’s to play more in a wide role as a winger, perhaps his best position, in my opinion, is more central. A role that’s about having an influence in central channels, that’s more appropriate for him.”

Souttar is out until the end of the year though Like @Ric Flair said, I think we should be looking at getting a centre back in on loan (ideally with an option / obligation) so then once we get to January, and we will hopefully know if Souttar is going to be suitable enough, we can look to get rid of one of Faes / Vestergaard

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR

It was mentioned when Martí was announced that we need to sell to buy I just hope he was told around how much we need to sell before we can buy so he is at least fully aware of the situation He has a history of falling out with those above him for not being backed, and I can definitely see it happening again if they have lied to yet another manager -

I doubt his price will drop after the release clause ends -

James Haycock is head physio, brought in from Palace last summer - we have had a few different ones since Rennie left I don't think we necessarily need to add more fitness coaches just because Enzo brought one in with him as well - we have 3 currently and also the sports science lads The only thing I would want us to get is a goalkeeping coach, but I wouldn't be surprised if Begovic is involved in that It isn't necessarily a bad thing promoting staff from the youth teams if they are good enough

For me it is more of a question of whether we will actually use the money properly, or even at all, if we do sell him Keeping him (and Fatawu) gives us a decent shot at promotion Selling one or both seriously screws us The way the club is behaving I would rather just keep him - if he smashes it in the Championship we can still get a very good fee for him next summer -
Ayew was good yesterday once Daka came on and was upfront and Ayew was behind him

He doesn’t have a clue about the release clause does he Said it was £24.5m last week -
I think we saw yesterday that Ayew just is not suited to play as a striker for us
-
We are definitely going to carry on with just Ayew and Daka aren’t we
-
Needs to be similar value to Dibling at least The ACL injury cancels out the English tax
-
The injury in pre-season doesn’t really carry for very long when he played in the last pre-season game
-
I will definitely be starting to worry if he isn’t starting against Huddersfield

Huddersfield Pre-Match Press Conference Injuries Ricardo has "started to train with the group today so that’s a positive one. It’s not too long until we’ll see him." Kristiansen "will be assessed further by the club’s medical staff". De Cordova-Reid could be out more long term. On yesterday’s win and performance In terms of the whole performance I can’t say it was amazing, particularly the first half. But it’s important that we had the capacity to react and that’s what I value the most. It’s something that’s important for me and the ability to make adjustments. On Wout Faes I spoke with Wout and learned more about his time here, his feelings. All the players want to do their best and it’s not easy when you feel under pressure or scrutiny. I can’t speak about before I came, since I arrived he’s been training well. Yesterday he helped us a lot, not just the goal but our approach with the ball. Hopefully the fact that he played well, and the manager is happy with him, this can create the right platform for everybody to have a positive feeling. On expectations for Huddersfield game I expect a difficult game. A good team, physically strong and we need to be ready because they’ll be aggressive in the way they press. We need to be ready, mentally as well, because we want to have a good run in the cup. On changes for the game You saw yesterday that I used the five subs. I’m a believer in the impact of players from the bench. We’ll assess the squad today but it might be that we make changes. The game might require different options than the Sheffield Wednesday game. If he expects more players to leave after Ndidi and Hermansen No, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I cannot predict the future but it’s work in progress. It’s the same for all clubs in the country. I would prefer that the market is closed once the season is starting, but that’s the reality. The market is open so we just focus on the things we can control. Any further bids received for players Nothing new at the moment

This is where Rudkin being our DoF comes in clutch because he has already forgot what the release clause is and by the time he remembers and then figures out how to get his emails open on his laptop it will have ended
