I think the point being made is all of those you list (apart from Maddison) didn't cost much (or nothing) in transfer fees. Paying such a substantial sum (probably a club record) for a player from the SPL is very risky and I'm not sure the club should take it.

Tierney has just come from Celtic and is looking useful for arsenal so it does work sometimes but I get your point too

  2. I thought Chilwell played much better today as did much of the team but there still seem to be a few people who like to abuse Chilwell at the slightest mistake.

There were some around me how were chanting “fing useless” when he made a slight mistake. This abuse of our own players is disgusting not helpful and needs to stop

  3.  I didn’t think gray was too bad today especially first half yes he didn’t create much and his touch was a bit heavy at times but he looked like he was actually trying for example when he lost the ball he tried to win it back rather than just giving up which is something I have been wanting him to do for ages.

So I think not his best game but at least his attitude seemes to be improving and I am now hopeful he will improve whereas before I wasn’t

  4. I really think people need to stop having a go at Schmeichel yes he made a mistake yes distribution is not his strong suit but the amount of crucial saves he makes for us on a weekly basis shows how good he is. I agree if he was out of form he should be dropped but I don’t think he is today and at Brighton he made good saves that kept us in the game. He really is a top goalkeeper and doesn’t deserve as much criticism as he is getting.

Should be a great match as they are a quality outfit who are in the Champions League.

Result is irrelevant, but hoping we see some good performances and link ups. Most of the World Cup players only got 30 last time round so expect to see Kasper plus the Nigerian and Portuguese contingent getting 60 minutes with Vardy and Maguire probably coming on in the last 30.

It won't be the full first team for the whole 90 so you can't really judge what the team will be like. The match against Lille will probably be more accurate for that. But for those of you that are going to see this match live - it's a preseason game so get behind the guys instead of booing. If we start the season and are dog muck, then go for it, but for right now get on the Optimistic Bus!

Are vardy and maguire back yet?

It’s this type of post that makes me a little worried. This reliance on players like Musa. Unless he becomes a very different player, we all know he’s just not good enough. Yet, we aren’t replacing him (and others) with better.

Its a big gamble I think. The Prem takes no prisoners.

I honestly don’t think Musa has been given enough of a chance and think that given a run of games he might well be very good

There is a valid argument to be made regarding their skill sets and worth to our team and a nuanced, reasoned discussion about which one should start would be welcomed.  Claiming Fuchs is "ten times the player" is not the nuanced, reasoned debate I was hoping for and, if I am honest, the hyperbole simply nullifies rather than assists your own viewpoint which is a shame really.  X

You’re right I think I was a bit over the top in my view point and it’s not that I think Chilwell isn’t good enough I just think he isn’t ready to be starting week in week out yet and Fuchs is better at the moment

Fuchs isn’t the same player he was when we won the league. No where near as fit and hasnt got the same awareness he once had.

I agree he isn’t as good as he was but is still better defensively and has a better cross than Chilwell does

Funny really people spazzing out because we let in a goal in a friendly with a back four with literally not one person in it that will start in the PL.  X

Fuchs should start ten times the player Chilwell is

He's unliked the tweet now, must have been told off by someone

    it was this one

I am going to choose to look on the positive side and hope he liked it because of the Ferguson bit

Percy says Maguire is "intrigued" at a possible move.

Maguire has liked a tweet saying that Man Utd has approached us.

That's it for concrete stuff so far, read as much or as little into it as possible.

I don’t know which tweet he liked but he could of liked it due to the fact it said leicester have said that he is not for sale?
