  1. I missed the game but looking at the forum match ratings its the first green gong since Tottenham last year as far as I can recall, that was almost a full year of abject yellow. It's good to see fans enjoying the football again after such a barren period during the decline and fall of Rodgers. It's telling to see how many Rodgers rejects from Cags, to Perez even through to Lurch that have come good since.
  2. I think the top signing of the Top era that made a real and immediate difference was Robert Huth, he was a genuine guy who has a genuine love of the club and his partnership with Morgan is something we have never matched but should continually aspire to. Could anyone imagine us stringing 5 clean sheets together these days? The only one to run close would be Kante but he was only here for one season which is why I'd have him second.
  3. Looking at our opening displays I worry what would become of us if we did gain promotion this year. There is only one position that has been obviously strengthened over the side that was relegated in a sea of new faces so you could only conclude this is a weaker side over the one that dropped last season. I think Derby County when I look at the prospects for this current side in the EPL with limited fire power and Lurch as the linchpin defender.
  4. That used to happen with Chelsea.

    The Weather

It rained last night and my car could camouflage nicely in the Sahara. Its had lots of birds landing on it today which it doesn't normally get so it must look like a sand pit oasis from the sky.
  6. What has Potter achieved as a manager. OK Brighton have been good and continue to get better since he left. His spell at Chelsea with a pick of properly good players didn't go too well. Assuming England as a National collective can muster some properly good players then where is that likely to end up?
  7. He surely won't be heading into retirement after only ever achieving relegation as a manager. He probably has a lucrative China or MLS franchise offer already in. I for one won't mourn his tenure coming to an end, the football was often tedious and the team sheet cast in granite.
  8. Natcho is as good a provider as he is finisher which in recorded terms he is decent, though not anything more than that. With the arrival of Cannon from Everton it could be a opportunity to actually develop a front pair partnership not seen since the Vardy feeding Ulloa days.
  9. Poll closed: top tip is top.
  10. There are naughty sites listing up to 10 links for the game this evening. I'm out so wont be looking in myself but there are usually one or two links that work from 10 available.
  11. This kind of league fixture reminds me of the wonderous day when we played Yeovil Town in the league, beat them 3-0 from memory.
  12. According to the Mercury he is quoted as being relieved the transfer came in time. How far have we fallen when players are relieved to secure a move to Fulham?
  13. Win % is probably not everything a manager can deliver or to consider. There is the squad cost, Ranieri famously fielded the £23mn team week in week out. The Rodgers team a short while later was nearer £150mn but the results were not many times improved. Pearson got to dominate lower leagues which might be easier than dominating the EPL? We all know who the best managers are of those here for a while and in the last 50 years that has to be O'Neil and Pearson. They got the very best out of what they had available at the time and over a period of time. None of our ex-managers from the last 50 years have ever gone on to better things. Sure, some have gone onto better jobs but they haven't exactly set the World alight and are often sacked within 2 seasons. On ex-managers, its interesting to see how Brenda is settling in back at his old job: "Can't tell whether he's sucking the life out of the team or vice versa, but all of them look, play and sound absolutely flat." Taken from a Celtic forum, a comment from today - reads somewhat familiar, I can relate to that.
