It's not a question of setting up a new forum. And as I have mentioned before treat everyone the same.

I can't think that anyone who has made 20, 30 or 40K + comments on these boards has not erred from time to time.

I mean it is if you're not happy with this one.

I've asked you this before, but why do you feel the need to highlight *his* when you talk about Mark? Why do you assume without confirmation that they use *his* as their pronoun? I don't know them personally, maybe you do and can confirm that that is their pronoun of choice?

You know as well as me there are some on these boards who appear untouchable and say what they like. That could be seen as favouritism.

If Mark wants to run his forum like this and bin folk without explanation that's up to him, however, you would think fairness should prevail.

Mark pays for and runs this forum as they see fit. As has been mentioned before, you are more than welcome to start your own and run it as you wish.

I can't remember when I was barred it's so long ago and I never did get an explanation. Poor form really.

Whatever happened to so-called free speech?

My advice to Admin is, if you don't like comments that don't concur with your views close the site completely.

With freedom of speech also come consequences. Mark is completely free to determine those consequences as he sees fit as he runs the site.

where are the half empty stadiums some were predicting?

is everyone paying thousands for tickets or was that all fake news or are people getting cheap tickets now so the stadia fill up???

It will be interesting afterwards to see the predicted revenue from international fans versus the actual, and also compared to world cups held in other nations.

It's easy to give tickets away to locals to fill stadia, but they're not spending anything like the same money that international fans would.

I love pork but my mum used to overcook it so it was dry, stringy and tough. So it turned me off eating it much. Can't stand pulled nonsense either.

I'll have a pork chop or loin steak but I need to cook it right so it's still nice and soft or I won't bother.

Slow cooked pulled pork is a thing of beauty. Doesn't beat Jamón Ibérico though, God's own food

    Exactly.

As well as them getting larger in terms of regularity and ferocity year on year.

Indeed. It's certainly the only place we've ever lived with an escape plan that potentially doesn't really work. Burning mountains behind our house and 300m from the beach which only works as a short term escape until the smoke gets us.

We house sit in a beautiful villa in the Algarve hills over the summer and that one scares me a bit too. No real escape route, and not many years since many residents burned to death in their cars trying to escape a fire

In the photos we took, we were wearing winter coats, but I don´t think it gets too cold in Rome.

A quick search says average max of 13C and average min of 5C in December. October looks a good time to visit: longer days, max/min 22/12C.

Thanks, yeah it all depends on how the cold feels, here in Spain my winter coat comes out at about 22 degrees lol October sounds perfect though

So I know we have some Netherlands experts on here and I'm currently trying to persuade my balkan girlfriend who's sceptical of anywhere in continental Europe north west of Vienna that it'd make a good trip in September.

Would love a sleepy town with pretty architecture, canals, some nice cafes and possible day trips. Is that too much to ask for? Oh, and relatively accessible from London by train. Ain't gettin on no plane

We loved Wassenaar and the surrounding area, no canals but stunningly beautiful town and beach

Too hot and too many tourists in August. I was there in June a few years ago and it was very busy.

We went in December 2024 and it was much less busy. The temperature was fine and it was light until about 6 p.m. You can be out from 9-6 then have a meal/drinks in the evening or go to a museum/gallery. We went to the Vatican museum (Sistine chapel etc.) late afternoon (best to book ahead). There´s so much to see in Rome!

How cold was it in December?
