  1. I was hoping Cremonese would stay up so that Vardy would see out his career in Italy with them. Their relegation puts me in the same spot as last summer - really hoping he doesn’t sign for another English (Welsh included) club. It would really hurt and just rub salt into a season from hell.

  2. The signings following the 2016 title win were poor but you can forgive that to an extent. It was a completely unexpected position so it’s understandable that we hadn’t planned for that.

For me the realisation came as Rodgers was allowed to get away with everything he did. Then when he was finally let go it was at a point where I’d have made him go down with the sinking ship. It really made me question the owners nous.

The Enzo era was a momentary reprieve in the downward spiral.

Top has annoyed me for a while. He and his family are very happy to take all the plaudits when there’s a trophy to show off with. Yet we hear nothing when we really need his leadership. I don’t hate him, I think he’s a decent man and there’s far worse owners. But I’m glad the larger fanbase is finally beginning to realise this decline is a result of us rotting from the Top.

  3. Ok so unless he develops at pace in the next couple of years he’s always going to be a back up player. But I can’t really see the issue with this. In the grand scheme of things the contract value will be small and as a home grown player if we do go on to sell it’s 100% profit for PSR purposes. I really don’t get all the negativity. Personally I’d rather watch a team of Luke Thomas’s that give it everything every week than some of the overpaid egos we still have in the squad who couldn’t care less about the club.

This is a young local player that was in the starting line up for our first ever FA Cup win a few years ago. I just don’t get the negativity personally.

  4. A great idea for a thread and I really hope he reads it. He should know how well thought of he is.

I’ve only had a few dealings with Jim over the years and only for relatively minor requests / queries. But he’s always helpful and even where he’s not necessarily able to help he is always empathetic. As has been touched on already his customer service is brilliant and if they could replicate Jim’s approach and attitude across the club I’m sure we’d be in a better place as a football club.

To be fair to the club, they've probably left it as close as possible in order to try and get a sponsor in after the KBet backlash.

It's a great indication of fan power and actually good from the club that they've listened.

It shouldn't be a massive deal really. Hopefully they get a decent sponsor sorted relatively soon.

Chelsea had no sponsor for the majority of last season and their sponsor for this season is also to be confirmed. Obviously they're more able to afford to go without than us, but if we can sort one relatively soon, we shouldn't miss out too much.

If our sponsor is a palatable one, I'd say things have turned out quite well :fc:

I hope you’re right, but I suspect that if anything it’s the club picking up on the backlash and delaying launch as late as possible, and eventually without a sponsor, to maximise sales and minimise backlash at launch.

But it’s more than possible I’ve been worn down to the point of being far too cynical.

  6. Reluctantly, no. I think he had the perfect send off in May - all the stars seemed to align for our greatest that day. We need to move on and let go of that era, even if it is painful.

Doesn’t surprise me he hasn’t signed for a club yet though. If he genuinely is wanting a PL club he’s going to be a second or third choice back up given his age, so clubs will only move once they’ve exhausted other options and signed their first choice options. I’m still hoping he signs for a club outside of England or retires though. I really don’t want to see him in another English clubs colours now 🙏🏻

  7. The more time that goes by the worse my feelings towards Top get, which is a real shame.

That being said I’ve never quite been as in love with King Power as a lot of the fan base were at the height of our success. Yes, King Power (and in particular Vichai) were decent owners, but they had their slice of good fortune too. It’s also worth remembering they didn’t buy us as a philanthropic act - a large part of it will have been for completely understandable but ultimately selfish reasons (brand awareness for KP, prestige and status etc). In many ways it was a relatively cheap marketing initiative, particularly in their early years of ownership. But that’s not to say they haven’t done good things along the way too (particularly with the children’s hospital for example).

Where Vichai stood out and to his credit got things spot on was he was able to connect with the fanbase. There was a genuine warmth about him and he seemed to have an ability to understand the everyday hardworking fan. How many times for example did we see him out amongst crowds etc talking to fans and shaking hands…I’d argue at most home games he was at you’d see some element of it. Compare that with Top, who for the Liverpool game this season whizzed in with about 4 security vehicles, got out to lay some flowers at his dads statue but was at all times surrounded by his heavies, then got straight back in his SUV and into the comfort of the board room no doubt. Perhaps I’m being unfair with this example, but Top just feels a more distant owner to me. It also annoys me that he’s soon out to celebrate on the pitch with the players etc when things are going well (FA Cup, Community Shield, Preston etc), yet we never hear or see from him at the smallest sign of trouble. To me that’s not leadership, or certainly not the type of leadership I want.

  8. This was how I got into being mad about the foxes in the 90’s. My mum and sister would have a ‘girls night in’ whilst me and my dad went to the footy. We always brought a takeaway in on the way home for us all. Always looked forward to FNF nights until I became old enough / we could afford to go to first team games.

  9. I love the bloke and he’ll be welcome back to the KP regardless in the future as a hero and legend. But the more I think about it I can’t help but feel him going to another PL / EFL team now would put a bit of a blemish on his legacy here. Which would be a shame after everything.

Particularly as I’m sure he’ll be receiving significant offers from abroad. Go and enjoy living in the USA for a year or two or go and earn a kings ransom in Saudi Arabia.

Huge selection in this thread (and FT generally) obviously but I do feel we have a disproportionate amount of fans that live elsewhere - e.g out of Leicestershire and its hinterlands.

Something about being a large-ish county in the middle of the country without fantastic employment opportunities seems to disperse us.

You’re definitely on to something with this. I found employment prospects are generally poorer in the East Midlands compared to other regions and big cities. Being bang in the middle of the country also allows us to move to a huge amount of the country and still be close enough to get back regularly.

  11. Leeds for me. It’s a long (and expensive) day and I’d be lying if I said there haven’t been times this season I’ve questioned why I do it. I find myself disillusioned with modern football rather than just LCFC. But the things we do for our football clubs…

Doubt you’d get anything other than fare back. Sometimes the crooks deduct an admin fee from that as well.

If you decide not to travel due to a cancellation you should never have an admin fee deducted. If that ever happens I’d definitely challenge it as it shouldn’t be happening. As you say though there’s nothing you can do against the loss for the match ticket unfortunately.

  13. The blatant cheating from Arsenal all through the second half was hard to stomach. Going down with cramp at every opportunity. Had another couple of yellows for kicking the ball away too. Even though no doubt we’d want us to do it if it was us, but still. Made the equaliser all that more enjoyable.
