  1. Stating the obvious, whilst draws in the last couple of games have 'stemmed the flow' and restored a degree of confidence, it is (as many on this forum have stated) wins that are needed. Since 3-points for a win was introduced (early 1980s?) this has always been the case. For, whilst a draw is in a way positive, especially against a team on form, it must always be remembered that it is theoretically possible to be relegated from most leagues having gone through a season undefeated. For example, a Championship club drawing every fixture would end the season on 46 points. On a much smaller scale, games wise, this was seen in Group F of the 2010 World Cup, which saw New Zealand eliminated after drawing all three group games, thus eliminated whilst undefeated. In the Championship this season, the win/draw ratio is highlighted by the fact that both Oxford and Sheffield United have lost 17 games. However, due to the ratio of wins against draws, Sheffield United sit in 16th place on 45 points, whereas Oxford United are in 23rd place with 29 points and are looking at relegation. Therefore, whilst Gary Rowett has done a good job in raising morale, increasing commitment and giving at least the signs of game management, it is wins, not draws that are now needed. The crown of King Obvious is upon my head, but I look forward to being challenged as the season moves towards its finale.

  3. I need a new pair of spectacles. I read the above post and spent 10 minutes trying to work out how M&S closing in Solihull killed football. Like the 'elder generations' referred to by CosbehFox, I am getting too old for this.
