We’re having our bathroom done next week after they’ve finished the kitchen.

Overboarding ceiling, complete strip out, re plaster, new window, bath/shower, floor, WC, basin, heated towel rail, extractor fan, everything really.

    Total just shy of £9k

Similar scope for us. Gutting the whole room and replacing it all. Still feels like a lot, even though it's surely a bargain by current standards.

  2. More of a curious question than anything else, but what are the going rates for a bathroom demo and rebuild? We're paying the equivalent of just over £10,000 for a project starting this week.

Just still in Florida, finished st petes, amazing city, in Orlando downtown, then off to see some lakes and do a bit business and head back.  Been massively indulging, the wife has done so much shopping, we brought 3 more suitcases.

Taking a massive suitcase of all the craft brewery beers I've been going, loving it.

So many craft breweries in St. Pete, a great town to visit. We've spent a lot of time in Three Daughters, burgers were excellent, too. Any favorites for you?

Off to Vegas in December to do so.e business the wife wants to go also........expensive.

Were thinking we palm springs, mammoth lake and maybe phoenix

We're heading to Arizona next month, visiting Scottsdale (Phoenix) and Sedona. Grand Canyon is doable from Vegas if you've never been. It will be cold, but still breathtaking to see it at sunrise or sunset.

  4. Desford Colliery Band (based in Coalville), won the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, held yesterday at Royal Albert Hall. Count me as one of the niche audience members for this type of music, but it’s a big win at an event typically dominated by Yorkshire and North West bands.

  5. Got drawn in the Phillies ticket lottery, picked up two seats for Game 2 on Monday!  £280 for two lower level seats in the seventh row.

Have been to several playoff games over the years, including the Halladay no-hitter in 2010. Live playoff baseball is a special kind of atmosphere. Also grateful it’s not an elimination game.

  6. Love seeing so many remarks about music. Being a former music teacher and actively performing musician brass musician, it works wonders for your mind, spirit, cognitive health and more. Plus, it's one of the few skills that you can share with others that brings joy to all. Have traveled our country and the UK, all because of music. Said to my wife the other week, when we're old, senile, and my memories are gone, as long as we can still connect with music and smile/feel, we'll be OK.

And most importantly for this lot...it's not too late to learn! So many incredible books and online resources that can get you started on all varieties of instruments.

Is that a specific subscription  package? I got it for new Dexter u til at least the end of this month, can't see any reference to live sport anywhere though!

They have the rights here in the US. It’s included with the app, no add-ons. What kind of device are you watching on? On my SmartTV, there’s a ball icon on the left of the screen. If on a tablet, I select Hubs, then Sports.

Off to the Dominican Republic in March for my belated honeymoon. Never been to that part of the world so hoping it’s a bit special!

Beautiful country, but beware of tipping culture and ripping off tourists. For instance, if you stay at a resort and book an excursion (let's say you want to go sailing), the driver will expect a tip. You'll have two people trying to help carry your belongings onto the boat or getting you a towel, angling for a tip. There might be someone on the sailboat with an exotic bird who might place the bird on your shoulder before you can say no, take a picture, then put their hand out for a tip. Tipping a server is normal practice, but there will be plenty of other angles at play.

So glad the NFL is back. How is everyone thinking their teams will do this year?

Expecting very little from the Eagles this season, so I'll cherish the memories of last season. The NFC East hasn't had a repeat division winner in many years, so there's only way to go after a Super Bowl winning season.

Side note- always get a laugh when people post about expensive tickets for certain away fixtures. Dallas @ Philadelphia is predictably sold out tonight, and the cheapest available tickets on Stubhub around $450 per seat. Parking is $50, it all adds up. The TV product is so good...there's no thought of needing to spend that ever again.

As much as I hate the way this club is being ran at the moment the Birmingham owners are probably the most cringe c***s ive ever watched. Tom Brady comes across as a right dickhead on the doc. The absolute opposite of Rob and Ryan at Wrexham.

His veneer has been shattered so many times, and yet it never sticks for long. Leaving his partner while she was pregnant, shilling shady health supplements, plus every scandal surrounding his team in his playing days. Somehow he’s currently a part owner of an NFL team, while earning nearly $40 million annually as a match commentator. Wrexham may be popular to dislike, but Rob is a far more normal human and a passionate fan of his teams, not the robotic personality always looking for an angle.

  11. 2026 MLB schedule was released today. Buried in the article was this. It’s a shame, considering how good the product was when we attended the 2024 London Series:

A contemplated Yankees-Blue Jays series at London in June likely won't take place because of scheduling issues caused by West Ham being home for its Premier League final match on May 24, delaying when Olympic Stadium would be available for conversion to baseball.
