  1. Considering tickets for The Who's North American farewell tour, starting next week. Surprised to see the sales looking low (though I suspect the price is the issue)- this is for next Saturday night, all seats in blue are still available.

Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 (among others) and the only man to visit the Moon twice but never set foot on it, aged 97.

This one has hit me hard. It is a mark of huge shame on our species that we turned away from the steps he and others made and that he, in the course of his very long life, never got to see "when will we be going back, and who will that be".

Well said, and legitimately a hero. He spoke at my college commencement some 15+ years ago. Truly humbling, both in his words and to be in his presence.  Felt grateful that my grandparents (including a WWII veteran) were in attendance that day to hear from someone of their generation, who embodied service and honor above self.

  3. Bank Holiday rail travel in the UK, especially on East Midlands Rail. Been reading about it in general terms, but thinking about it as a possibility of getting to a match this spring. We'd plan and book the trip well before the engineering works are announced.

In general, what's the worst case scenario you've seen with EMR? Bus replacement service, reduced schedules? Sadly, not not first dealings with EMR cancellations.

Go onto Experian and sign up for their credit lock. That means any application for any credit involves a phone call to you to give them your password.

Couldn’t agree more. Experian saved me a few months ago when I was subject to several debt collection notices that I knew to be fake, but if you receive enough of them, it makes you wonder what’s out there.  (Turns out they were looking for someone else with the same last name). Various tiers of free and paid services are available.

Paid membership with Credit Lock is worth it for the peace of mind.

Being the best man organising the stag do in Glasgow - when organising everything it felt like something was on and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Hotels more pricey and expensive than normal. Both Glasgow clubs playing friendlies on Friday and Sunday rather at least one of them on the Saturday. It was only when I noticed the roads closed on Saturday morning and it all came together - the Rangers shirts & the Belfast accents. Orange Marches. So it made for an interesting start on Saturday.

    Anyway here's your run down

    Friday

Shilling Brewing Co - solid craft beer, cracking setting, good pizzas

Pot Still - favourite and winner, deep Whisky selection, cracking atmosphere, pies during the day

The Press Bar - fairly standard spot in Merchant City but a good crowd in there, average beer

    Tap Yard - crap

Brewdog Merchant City - squeezed in a final orders

    Saturday - a type of sub-crawl

Scotia Bar - claims to be Glasgow's oldest, outside looks terrible, inside proper pub, full of Orange order

The Laurieston - recent winner of Timeout's best pub/bar in the UK which made a few of the stag group look at me mad, when you turn up outside to this 60s masterpiece of dull architecture. I loved it - it is 1960s, it does feel a bit novelty but equally this is a dying example of a pub

The Keningston Bar - now this was Glasgow. Small bar, swift half, like an estate pub

Three Judges - highly rated, good selection of bar but felt like off with the place, largely because at this point was overwhelmed by subcrawlers

Inn Deep - the pick of craft beer places, 30 taps, interesting setting, you can set outside overlooking the river until 10pm, great pizza place next door.

    Back to Pot Still

Top 3 were The Laurieston (McEwans Export for the win), Pot Still and Inn Deep

Many thanks for this list. A friend is off to Glasgow next week and asked for pub recommendations. This thread continues to deliver!

Got 5 days booked in Iceland at the end of November. Will obviously be cold and short days, but anyone got any tips/hidden gems? Have a car rented for the time we are there and got the obvious stuff on the list.

Good call on the car rental. Outside of the typical Reykjavik scene, we loved our stay at the Black Beach Suites. Breathtaking scenery, not far from Vik. Also close to Skogafoss and Mia’s Country Van (a food truck that was one of our best meals on the trip).

Beautiful country, we will be back again to visit.

That’s a Tier 25 source on the Wilder link, no?

Have always been told our higher-ups (along with most decision makers in English football) cannot stand him.

Also, on the posts about the NY Giants owners possible interest, I’m a longtime Giants fan and I really hope Mara won’t let a Director of Football burn him like the Giants GM did here (Saquon Barkley went on to have an incredible season and win the Super Bowl with Philadelphia, one of the Giants’ division rivals).

As a lifelong Eagles fan and Philadelphia-area resident, I’ll ignore these rumors for now, stay in my own lane, and thank the Giants for their continued ineptitude.

This Wilder rumour has come from a complete BS source, yet we have a Foxestalk meltdown in full effect?

    This is the way.
