  1. https://theathletic.com/5256912/2024/02/08/ben-nelson-leicester-maresca/?redirected=1&source=googlesearch&access_token=14108451 Hopefully this link works without a subscription.
  2. Interesting. Are you saying this is what happens at Leicester City or what should happen if things are done properly?
  3. Enzo Maresca made key decision over Leicester City starlet to prove his future is now
  4. You've got to have a high ceiling when you're 6ft5!
  5. He'll only be 23 by 2027, he's not 20 till next year.
  6. I think the lack of a loan was down partly to Nelson's contractual situation (out of contract summer 2024) and partly Enzo wanting to have a look at him. He's certainly been consistently training with the first team, featured on the bench at the start of the season and got his debut when JJ picked up an injury. I hope the contract situation is resolved in time for him to go out on loan in Jan if the right opportunity can be found.
  7. I imagine at this stage in his career it's about believing the pathway is there to first team football. He's still only 19 so first team opportunities at CB are going to be limited but he's wasted in the 21's.
  8. Agree re. Nelson. He won't get out on loan though unless he signs a new contract before January. The club won't want him in the shop window if he's not tied down.
  9. You've seen it now but yes, lovely individual goal. Everyone was pleased to see him back and scoring. Good to see that so far his injury doesn't seem to have adversely affected him. Braybrooke was watching. Hope he's back soon. With Nelson captaining, it'll be great to have the three of them playing together again. Just need Wormleighton to get fit. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Nelson out on loan in January if his contract situation is resolved in time.
  10. Just back from the game. The second goal was just as the commotion was starting by the pitch in the Leicester half because of the medical emergency. Presumably that's why Newcastle were basically able to run straight down the pitch and score. The game was stopped straight after the goal.

  12. It seems ambipedal is the technical term.
  13. Looked to me like Nelson was unwell. He wasn't moving right and fled the pitch rapidly both at half time and when he was subbed off. Wasn't sure if he maybe asked to be taken off because he was unwell, as he literally sprinted off the field heading for the changing rooms.
  14. He's genuinely two footed. Used to play mainly on the left in the 23's/21's and at Doncaster where he moved into the centre of the back three only to cover injury. Presumably he's been played on the left a lot as left footers are rarer. He can do a good job on either side or in the middle of a three. Do you think he's a different type to Doyle? He's a ball playing CB, not that he got the chance to show that at Rochdale. Donny wanted him for that reason though.
  15. Rob Tanner certainly thinks so 'Nelson is one of ten players in the last year of their deals...'
  16. Nelson subbed off at half time with what looked like a hamstring issue. Hope it's nothing serious.
