  1. Christensen is a quality player and I think he would help fill the void when Evans finally has to hang up his boots. I just doubt whether they would let him join us or other PL rivals unless it was for top dollar.

I wonder what others on here think to Nat Phillips. He seems surplus to requirements now at Liverpool and I thought he did quite well at the backend of last season in difficult circumstances. Showed a lot of character in that team and didn’t look out of place. Maybe a loan with options? Can’t see us buying outright at the moment unless someone else (CB) moves on.

....if we revert to Rodgers preferred formation it will be 4-2-3-1!!!

I know with squad rotation there is a scope to incorporate all the quality we have, but going to a double pivot only gets us back to a midfield 2 which is admittingly now aided by the energy of KDH. In order to take advantage of his (KDH) presence on the pitch, we need to go to a midfield 3 in a 4-3-3 with either Youri or Maddison taking the "creator" role in this instance. We have so far coped with a midfield 2 but we now do not need to do so, and if we fail to now utilise KDH in bolstering our defence as well as attack, it will be a missed opportunity.

Most seems to believe Youri is on his way out, I think with KDH now drafted in, Youri will now have someone to do the leg work. and we are a club with top 4 quality, he really could not have a better infrastructure to build his career on.

Btw I think the emergence of KDH has had a similar positive effect on Maddison and his recent resurgence. I don’t think we need to get too bogged down on formations in and out of possession as this so fluid nowadays but it is key to have quality across the pitch. With players coming back from injury and if we can keep said players we will have this. Shame Praet didn’t seem want to fight for a place as he would be useful.

Yes I think it will definite give him pause for thought. I can see KDH and Youri sharing that workload and releasing the other as and when the opportunity presents itself. They both seem to be very team orientated and not focussed on individual spotlight. If we manage to keep all our talent, injury permitting, then Brendan will have some difficult but positive decisions to make. This will also keeps competition for places high and enables effective rotation and in game choices.

Make this lad the next captain.

I can see this. He has that stance and look in his eye that says follow me. Leads by example. It’s early days and we don’t really know his character but early signs look good. With players like Thomas Justin barnes Daka hopefully Fofana if he stays we have the nucleus of a future team right in front of us.

Yeah. One way or another there were a few of us who saw quality in KDH some years ago but yet he was never given the time nor patience in terms of first team action earlier. This is really for Rodgers, but I feel that his loyalty towards the club actually worked against him. He is young but at 23 he ought to have had more games under his belt be it with us or on loan. Not sure why he was not sent out on loan earlier than it did for him last season when he was already 22. Perhaps he felt like he could crack it straight here but Rodgers and the youth team coaches should have managed his career better. Like you said, if he was bought from another club, I feel that he would have gotten into the first team much sooner.

I agree. KDH is filling the role I think Soumare was expected to perform. Soumare will come good I believe though and will prove a good buy I hope. Either way chuffed to see KdH doing so well.

  6. I just hope Maddison can keep fit as he is on top form and we are going to need him more than ever over the coming weeks. Given the challenges he has had with injuries and family commitments he definitely deserves our total support. His ‘now you see it now you don’t’ turns are a highlight for me and he doesn’t seem to be dwelling on the ball so much now. Well done madders.

At least our current centre-back situation is forcing Rodgers not to play three CB's because there aren't any. What conceivable good do they do anyway? Obviously they can't defend corners or free-kicks. On the basis of what we saw against Liverpool we could do with binning off Soyuncu for the rest of the season, because where there's Soyuncu, goals will follow, whether it's Leicester City or the increasingly inept Turkish national side.

I would rather have no CB's at all. Each opponent would have to guess who was going to turn up as our number 5, whether it's Maddison or Albrighton or Perez. They would have to devise a complex system of hand gestures to decide which one it's going to be for the next five minutes. It would work like Maddison raising his arms for corners, meaning 'I'm going to pick out the first defender, so you can all relax'. And it would drive the MOTD pundits barmy, with one of them saying 'They are trying to play total football but they haven't got there yet' and the other one saying 'It's mad, but Rodgers could be on to something here, no, on second thoughts it's mad'

A sort of back door pep guardiola approach 😀 ingenious

With Daka and Vardy out and kel off to Afcon we may be mirroring that up front too.

  8. Luke has been a real plus point this season and great to see young players from the local area coming through so consistently now. Our injury problems have been horrendous over the last couple of years. It is indicative of the strength of our squad that we are able to maintain a top half position and still beat one of worlds best teams whilst in such a dire position. Exciting attractive football too.

About £25m quids worth of centre backs in Benkovic and Vestergaard and I think we'd all prefer to play Castagne and Dorris the Team lady there.

To be fair Dorris is much underrated IMO. Great distribution skills and always consistent despite niggling injuries -varicose veins etc.

  10. Really like the look of Yves Bissouma for Brighton. He is a very good all round midfielder. Great intensity energy and tackling prowess.  Very aware of what’s going around him. Can bring the ball forward nicely and play a good pass/shot. He has also got that toughness we lack a bit of. Would be a great addition to our team in my opinion.

Something quite exciting about the “who the hell can we patch up to get on the pitch” vibe we have going on right now!

    Id guess:

                         Kasper

    Castagne Amartey Ndidi Thomas

                       Soumare

             Tielemans       KDH

                       Maddison

           Iheanacho     Lookman

    Guessing Vardy isn’t fit.

If Maddison isn’t, Perez in for him and more of a 4-3-3.

Feel like we will have some nice momentum for a change if we can win this…we should, they’re awful.

Yes I think this one is likely or maybe barnes coming in for Maddison depending on relative fitness and recovery. Not sure about exciting but I certainly sense a bit of the Dunkirk spirit going on. Loved last night. Never give up the faith. Shame the Mrs has the Rona bad and we couldn’t go. Just waiting to show positive myself. Didnt have time to give away tickets or car park.

Man some fans are pathetic @Kasey Keller laughing at my optimistic post. Are you even going to the game? There is a good buzz tonight for once so even if we do lose we might as well start in the right mindset and enjoy it.

Can’t go tonight as we have to isolate but feeling really positive about this evening too. I bet the stadium will be buzzing. Just want to see the players up for this and put in a good shift. CYOB.

  13. I get that and I work in a similar field too. My real beef is the trolls just trying to wind people up for a laugh. Even with the tentatively good news on omicron I don’t think we are quite there yet. You’re right too there are many other big issues that need sorting out. I’d add climate change to that list. Some stuff can be a distraction from the other issues. We have to take a deep breath and do the right thing at all times and we will get there one way or another -either the easy way or the hard way. Time for leaders to step up. Anyway step aside. Merry Christmas and come on the foxes and keep smiling 🦊🎄
