Who are you most annoyed at regarding relegation?
ForestAreMagic replied to Get Carter's topic in Leicester City Forum
All of us at Forest couldn’t believe Leicester did that - you played most of the season with a keeper that’s worse than Hennessey, our back-up. I don’t watch Leicester much obviously, but from what I’ve seen Ward was terrible. When Henderson got injured, Forest went and got Navas. I think the biggest single reason Leicester and Leeds went down rather than Forest and Everton is quality of goalkeeper. -
For a second there I thought he was suggesting that Forest or Derby would be sharing it with Leicester on a rotation basis
-
Lingard to Leicester this summer? https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2023/04/17/report-leicester-want-to-sign-nottingham-forest-player-jesse-lingard/
-
Cooper and Potter could both be available within days
-
John Brooks - from Melton Mowbray I believe
-
I agree, and TBH I’m not sure refs have had a big impact on us so far this season As for our promotion, 2 absolute shockers by refs lost us games at Bournemouth and Luton, costing us auto promotion. We shouldn’t have needed the play offs
-
We had a Leicester fan ref us v Everton and a lot of people objected to it. Lad behind me said he’d been reffed by him in non-league 10 years ago and described as a ‘dyed in the wool bin-dipper’. To be honest he was bad all round rather than particularly anti-Forest
-
You’ve obviously not seen any of our away games
-
I think we’re all expecting them to get a fine of a few million and a suspended (ie non-existent) points deduction. In about 3 years’ time after a couple of appeals.
-
After 20 games played, do you think we are going down?
ForestAreMagic replied to ozleicester's topic in Leicester City Forum
You aren’t going down. Presumably Maddison is back soon (?) and he’s the best player of any bottom half club. You’ll be 10 points minimum clear of relegation. -
It depends where we’re from. I think it’s true that fans in North Notts aren’t bothered about Leicester, but those like me from the city or South Notts, or even Lincolnshire definitely are. If you’re from near Loughborough, East Leake etc it’s your main rivalry. overall the song sums up the order of teams our fanbase as a whole dislikes: we hate Derby County, we hate leicester too, we hate Sheffield United but Forest we love you

Do Wolverhampton Wanderers want Brendan?
ForestAreMagic replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
He’s run out of steam but he’ll keep you up. -
I don’t see why they sacked Smith. Sometimes clubs just want to get a ‘name’ in for some reason.
-
😂 total nonsense both sets of supporters were OK. A few quietish spells but a solid 7/10 especially considering it was a one sided game
-
spence is from London and had his heart set in Spurs - he told us so in January. We never had a chance of signing him. I agree signing Zinc was a no-brainer albeit he was a squad player rather than a key player. We miss Garner more than any of the others. the other loan that made a difference was Davies, who’s been injured until 2 weeks ago. Yates, Colback, Worrall, McKenna and Cook have all been playing but most non-Forest supporters say none of them are good enough. Who else would we have kept in our squad if we’d signed less players? Laryea, who is now at Toronto? Harbottle and Swan, who we’ve loaned to Mansfield? Fin Back, now at Carlisle? So it was totally necessary to do the biggest and fastest rebuilding job in PL history.
-
I agreed and no one’s pretending Cooper or the club have done everything right we should have signed Zinckernagel and Garner. We should have signed a second good CB alongside Niakhate. We had a good, focused transfer window until the last couple of weeks when we started signing quantity rather than quality. Cooper himself needs to make the formation more defensive as you saw on Monday, and stop playing Lingard, MGW and Johnson all at once
-
If we stay up great. But the question that matters is ‘who will get us promoted next year’. There is some PR about this I agree. The owners would face mutiny if they’d sacked him. The fans saved his job. Cooper deserves his chance after what he’s done for us. If that makes us ‘deluded’, I’m happy to be deluded.
-
haha pin drop silence - you know that’s not true we’re not very magical on the pitch at the moment though, I’ll give you that
-
Yes - it’s “Forest are magic on and off the pitch” we don’t sing “Forest get battered everywhere we go” ourselves (yet)
-
Cooper needs to stay with us until/unless we’re in the Championship and out of the running for promotion next year. Whatever happens this season will be our best league position for 23 years, and we’re competing with no PL infrastructure and a team that’s valued at less than every other team’s except Bournemouth. Surviving relegation would be great but a more realistic ambition is get about 25 points and a PL infrastructure in place.
-
After the loans went back we had virtually no one of Premier League standard - only (arguably) the 3 central defenders (and collectively they’re not strong enough), Johnson and Yates. Our choice was to be guaranteed to break Derby’s low points record or try to improve all areas of the team significantly. Improving with 3 or 4 marquee signings wasn’t an option. I think the spending has been good - whether it’s enough to keep us up time will tell. £150m isn’t that much when you’re trying to assemble a Prem team from scratch. I believe it’s still the cheapest squad in the division and we’ve already been hit by injuries with our best central defender (Niakhate) and defensive midfielder (Mangala) injured.
-
No chance you’ll be in a relegation battle. Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest, Brentford, Southampton, Leeds and Everton will all be behind you even if you have a disaster. I think the problem for teams like you and West Ham is the top 6 is probably locked down. Is it worth spending much to improve the team when you’re probably chasing 7th?
-
…if we can stay up for a few years (a big if) I can see the Forest-Leicester rivalry really getting going
-
I wouldn’t say so but it’s definitely a game we’re looking forward to. Personally, Leicester, Leeds and Villa are the matches I’m looking forward to. We’ve got long-held grudges against Spurs and Liverpool too.
-
Like any signing it could go either way, but we’ve got to roll the dice a bit if we want to stay up. Cooper’s made lots of solid signings but we needed more pace and finishing power up front, and some Premier League experience to help players like Johnson keep improving. Any of our rivals in the bottom half would be pleased with this signing I think. A lot of journalists seem to think we should just accept relegation before the season starts rather than giving it a go and adding something to the league. Most of us are relieved it’s a one year deal as we’d obviously be in a mess if we had someone on £80k+ a week on the books in the Championship.
