I popped in there last month when I attended the group stage 50 over game between Notts and Leics. Picked up the Michael Atherton autobiography I’m currently reading for £1 in there. Trent Bridge is probably my favourite ground tbf.

I think I’m done with this game. I want to like it but I can’t be bothered with it anymore. You’re on a 5 game winning streak, turn it off then fire it back up again and all of a sudden you can’t buy a win. You’re absolutely battering a team but lose 1-0 to a goalkeeping error. I’ve just had enough of it. It makes absolutely no sense.

Flogged Winks to Wolves for £12m and a young full back whose name escapes me to Man Utd for a similar amount. Brought in Piroe from Leeds, Drameh from Hull and a young midfielder called White from Stevenage. Despite the outgoings we are still falling foul of the spending rules, but if I’d brought no one in then there was no chance we would hit the board’s target of reaching the play offs. Eased past Sheff Wed 5-1, before we disappointingly chucked away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Preston. We got back on track with back to back wins over Charlton (another 5-1) and Birmingham (2-1).

I’ve given up with Sunderland and decided to have a crack with Leicester. Doubt I’ll bother getting FM27 till Xmas so got a few months to get into a save.

I was at Trent Bridge today. If we lose this it has to be the end of Key and McCullum. This team is just incapable of pushing on from a decent position. I’m not sure why they seem to shit themselves so much because the wicket keeper is standing up to the stumps. That first hour this morning was disgusting tbh. Bethell could have been out 4 or 5 times wafting at balls outside off stump that he could have left and eventually one found his edge. Smith is rubbish behind the stumps and looks like a walking wicket every time he bats. For the love of God pick a ****ing proper keeper. Sick to death of it tbh. English cricket is an absolute joke.

I attended the ODC final In 2023 and thought Hull was head and shoulders above every other bowler that day. I wasn’t at all surprised to see him get an England Test call up a year later. I can’t believe how much he’s regressed.

Obviously it was too much in favour of the bowlers but the contrast between England’s woeful short and wide bowling in the Ashes to the 1st Test here was very heartening. Robinson is part of that but Atkinson now seems to have completely mastered wobble seam. Tongue also now looks like a proper Test match bowler.

If a northern ground produced a Test match wicket like that they’d be getting their hosting rights stripped. Lord’s for all its history and grandeur has produced some shocking wickets in recent years.
