I suspect the lack of communication with Ruud is because they want to keep him as a back-up option Yeah, I get that logic and its maybe what is happening. It makes a certain kind of sense. But if that’s the plan, the least they could do is be honest with him about it. Even saying, “You’re still under consideration but we’re exploring our options,” would be better than radio silence. Right now it just looks like they’re stringing him along while quietly hoping someone better says yes. That’s not how you treat someone who you might have to rely on to get you out of a rough situation next season!! I still don’t think he’s the right man going forward, but if we do end up having to stick with him, this whole approach risks starting the season with a manager who feels undermined and disrespected before a ball is even kicked.
