Premier League 24/25 Pre-season guff (misc talking points)
WorcesterBlue replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
My season ticket in the Cobbold stand at Portman Road is £344 (I'm an OAP). The club has taken a policy decision that it wants a full stadium for every game. -
I think you are right. Budgies or Baggies for my money.
-
Ipswich are owned by Yanks of a different colour

Tractor boy here. First congratulations to the foxes. I have said on here before that my choice was Town and Foxes for top two. Thanks for the good wishes that are on here. I don't want the Budgies to go up. In fact it you could just arrange that they get relegated next year to Div 1 and then Div 2 the year after all will be well.

See.

Keep calm. It will all work out.

Probably. But this time last year we were literally playing Forest Green. Getting to the promised land of th EPL and using the money sensibly is where it is at for us. Small steps. Oh, and enjoying the ride of course.

None taken. Morsy is what he is. But what ever that is is very effective. However yesterday Saints put 2 players on him which held him back a bit.
-
Morsy is a destroyer. If he loses the ball to you don't expect him to stand back and admire your skill. He is immediately going to do everything he can to get it back. Yes he is tough but over the course of a match he is much more fouled than fouling. It is just that he rides the fouls and presses on forwards. Relentless. He will be our Player of the Season by a mile.

I agree that there are still a lot of football to play yet. But for this coming week nobody in East Anglia is considering the league position. It's all about the game with the Budgies at Carrion Road on Saturday. For that we turn our backs to the world and watch the game through our fingers.
-
Don't forget the 12 minutes that were added at Cardiff that cost is 3 points.
-
We have had 10 games this season that have either been 3-2 or 4-3.
-
Their right back, I forget his name, fell over and twisted his back and lay as if he had been pole axed for 5 minutes. Then he got up and ran around. Usual thing.

Ipswich supporter here. The reason he changes so many forwards is to get fresh legs out there and blokes who have been bench warming and champing at the bit waiting to get on. These then run like hell at tired defenders who have been out there for an hour or so. It's not rocket science. It's bringing on the right players at the right time. Great game yesterday. For some reason I seem to have lost my voice. Foxes and Town to go up. F ....... Leeds

I did wonder what sort of reception I would get putting that bit about Town on here. I would like to thank those who responded with thoughtful and reasoned arguments. I think we can all agree that it is a shame that Southampton have yet another game postponed. COYB

Ipswich I have read a lot of what around here they would call "Squit" on this forum concerning Ipswich. "Jammy last minute goals" "All deflections". On the other hand some knowledgeable comments, especially after last night. Ha, ha. I thought that I would explain why this interloper from the lower leagues is up there with those with 5 times the money. First came the recruiting. Town only take in those that are technical (skilful), ambitious and hard working. Thereby giving a gifted manager something to work with. Our plan is to work it from the back with a 4231 system. But crucially the full backs are used as wing backs who often can be found very high so when we do break we have a massive overload of up to 8 players. Lief Davis (fullback) has 14 assists already this season. How many has your best player got ? The down side is of course that we sometimes leave the back vulnerable. Not surprisingly we tend to score a lot and concede a lot. The two of our most frequent scores are 3-2 and 4-3. It's boring at Portman Road. But then we come to the substitutions. The forwards have been told to run and harry hard because at 70 or so minutes 3 or all 4 of them are going to come off and keen, skillful blokes who have been champing at the bit to be involved enter the field. These fresh players run at tired defenders who have already been out there for an hour and a quarter. We dont give up, we dont stop. No matter what. The result is that we have had 20 odd goals scored by substitutes and many goals scored before or just after 90 minutes. We have now got 27 points from losing positions. You might think it a good idea not to be losing in the first place and you are not wrong. But you cant make an omelette without breaking eggs and if your primary thing is attack then you are going to let some in. It's not luck, it's not a secret, it's what we do I could not be prouder of this team and I watched those managed by Alf and Bobby. My choice is a Town/Foxes promotion. COYB
