I want the Johnstone’s paint trophy or whatever it’s called now. Just that and League Two left on the bingo card in English football for us so let’s go hard at it and try and get it in the cabinet for the sheer ridiculousness of having it there next to the Premier League.

    What, getting relegated?

  2. Sunny Smiles.

Little books with tear out pictures of children in care that more fortunate school children sold for the National Care Homes charity. Something like 10p per picture.

    More innocent times.

  3. Well Fez did (The Unbelievables by David Bevan), but his account isn't active anymore.

Wasn't fiction though. I'd be interested to know too. When I was much younger I submitted two novels to be published, neither taken up, though one publisher returned an encouraging letter that suggested I'd only just missed out.

This was pre-social media, I imagine self-publishing is much easier now.

Leicester City. Members of my family in the city have used it several times.

Yep, used it myself a couple of times. My waste collection is much better since moving within the city boundary.

  5. So it's okay to say that we have a two tier police where white people are badly treated compared to Asians (they're not), but when I say that (which has been statistically proven)

black people generally feel second class compared to how white people are treated, I'm censored?

To claim that Harry was treated badly because he was white would be laughable were it not tragic.

Very fun sport and nowhere near as demanding or technique heavy as squash and racketball.

Problem is it's being conquered by estate agent/insurance broker/recruitment consultant types as another way for them to desperately prove they belong in the middle class.

    Are they not?

Wood pigeons and turtle doves are quite common in parks and gardens

Turtle doves are increasingly rare. I've never seen one and I'm a bit of a birder. I wouldn't expect to see one in Leicestershire either, you'd need to go further south or east.

Collared doves, now they're two a penny.

  8. First rule of school teaching - never let the kids know your first name.

Mr Gene Woodliffe had to put up with kids singing, "Geno, Geno, Geno!" at him, from the Dexy's Midnight Runners song. To be honest, as a teacher he knew his subject, but absolutely no affinity with children, which I think is more important.

Another teacher, Mr Grundy would make alcohol (ethanol) during lessons and let pupils have a sip... until the incident when an ambulance had to attend. He went on to become Lord Mayor of Leicester.

Sparrows. Used to be the bird I saw the most (not a bird spotter by any means but enjoy natures air shows when I’m in the garden) and now I’m surprised when I do see one. Blue Tits seem to be more common these days.

    Still sparrows here.

    In order(ish)

    House Sparrows

    Dunnocks

    Magpies

    Great Tits

    Goldfinches

    Blackbird

    Blue Tits

    Robins

Actually, this time of year, swifts might be first,

The problem - and the fatal mistake - would be a government making policy in the name of the 28.5% on this matter, rather than the 71.5%

Right now,  we're on course for a global average temperature increase of between 3 to 4 degrees Celsius inside of 250 years - an increase matched historically by only the "big 5" extinction events in terms of change over time.

Now, what changes that will bring we cannot be certain of, but given the changes in weather patterns and resource availability so far from "just" a 1.5 degree increase, it is likely they won't be pretty.

I thinking it's worth pointing out it's not just average temperatures that are of concern. There's an increase in heat spikes.

Are 'heat spikes' becoming more common? - BBC Weather

If the average temperature for May in 20c, over the course of a week you could have Mon-Weds temperature of 15c, Thurs-Sat temperature of 25c and temperature of 20c on Sunday. The average temperature would be 20c. That doesn't tell you about the huge 10c jump midweek.

If you haven't noticed this happening, at least your head will be warm in the sand.

Would love to see these tests.

Also, how is a cognitive test a physical examination?  Ooooh, if you make it up, it can be whatever you want it to be!
