  1. Thank you for the comments. Please set out early, the Easter rush has started and the M5 on the approach to North Bristol gets snarled up. I have been doing this "local info" for a few years some one said I have been doing it since year 2002,didn't think it was that long though Yes it is a cut copy and paste, and I try to adjust it to suit the kick off time and day of the week, but I am only human and I make mistakes. There are only two clubs I would NOT do this "local info" for,and they will remain nameless.
  2. Nice to see its a sell out for Leicester followers, so here is some local info for those heading to west country Coming by road, yes it is good friday, but you never know how busy the motorway can be,so set out early from your departure point Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol YOU WILL GET LOST If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport It looks the long way round but its quicker. Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 10:30am please don't block drive ways or park on corners. There is now a clean air zone in and around the Ashton Gate area please check if your vehicle is compliant https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz If you are coming by train there is a local train service to PARSON STREET from Bristol Temple Meads which leave at 25 minutes past the hour Good train times as most trains from the North or from the London direction arrive at quarter to the hour or quarter past the hour it takes you two thirds of the way to the ground and walk the rest of the way return by train to Bristol T.M. are at 37 minutes past the hour You will pass Sainsburys on the left with restaurant,Robins pub again on your left hand side When you approach the ground I suggest you walk past Wickes using the pavement as the concourse area behind the big new stand gets very congested with bodies Please make sure you get your train ticket showing PARSON STREET We are trying to promote PARSON STREET for football fans till Ashton gate halt comes on line. Split train tickets are available to Bristol if coming from the London area using didcot parkway a your split ticket option Group save tickets are available(one third off) on GWR trains but not cross country trains If there are at least three of you arriving by train get a taxi Make sure the taxi driver drops you in the Ashton Road end by Greville Smyth Park as it a very long walk round from the other end or use the brown buses from the bottom of the incline of the station. Which depart approximate 13:55pm with returns just after the match finishes On your return to London or the North the trains leave Bristol Temple Meads at 17:30pm and I think you will struggle to get back to Bristol Temple meads for 17:30pm Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes cos I think their both rubbish The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston) Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats from "fools and horses" Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's Pubs possibly best one are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage. There is no official match day programme any more, although one Bristol City follower is doing an unofficial match day programme cost four pounds BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies and 94:9 95:5fm and DAB Please circulate to any other football forums and footy fans you may deem fit If you need any further info, don't be afraid to ask
  3. hebangsthedrums Hi Is there update on collecting the video tapes? regards
  4. I can always pick up the tapes from any where in the U.K., themightyfin: no message received as of yet but you can e-mail me direct at [email protected]
  5. If you don't want the tape let me know Would any one have any 1976/77 and 1977/78 footage?
  6. Hi Bristol City fan here,I will take them if no one else wants them. Would you be coming to Ashton Gate on saturday 29 march? Let me know regards John
  7. Hope as many of you can attend the game on good Friday as I don't think we will be meeting one another next season, and good luck. The allocation of 3,414 is very good as the outfit from South Wales only got 2,500 for this Saturdays severnside derby maybe its because they damaged the toilets at the away end on their last visit There is no hard copy match day programmes any more, although the club has sanctioned an unofficial copy of brochure. In the home end there is football type programme for children, given away free. TRAINS if your coming by train, please have your tickets issued to Parson Street as it helps us try and get a new train station nearer to Ashton Gate and its normally the same price Trains from London or Birmingham direction arrive in good time for the XX:26 XX:54 past the hour from Bristol temple meads to Parson Street It takes you two thirds of the way to the ground and walk the rest of the way or catch the number 24 in either direction Special bus's depart from Bristol temple meads to the ground on most match days but as its good friday not sure if they will run, will advise nearer the time. If you use Parson Street, this will save negotiating the ticket gates/barriers at Bristol Temple meads Our most famous player,John Atyeo, has a statue by the club superstore between the corner of the Lansdown and South stand. The congestion zone has arrived which includes some areas around Ashton Gate, even the council don't like us. Check if your car is compliant HERE www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz/charges-and-vehicle-checker Coming by road. Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport It looks the long way round but its quicker. Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 10:00am please don't block drive ways or park on corners. Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes because I think their both rubbish The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston) Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats in "fools and horses" Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's Pubs not sure of which ones will be open, possibly best one are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage. BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies and 94:9 and DAB. and the match commentary will be on BBC radio Bristol Please circulate to any other football forums and footy fans you may deem fit If you need any further info, don't be afraid to ask
