How many in the last couple of seasons?

Agreed, but he has only started in about 25 of his 71 games. I just feel as a 2nd striker, available for maybe 400-500k, that he is worth a go when you look at his L2 season.I would want us to also sign a younger (main) striker. Millwall fans feel he is a player that works hard but they didn’t see/play him as a 9

We've just got rid of one bloke who never scored goals but ran about a bit, no thanks!

29 in League 2, think he got about 40 the year before that in the National League. I would be ok with someone like this, so long as we sign someone else in case this didn't work

Did not realise he was that old

I was also surprised. I would take him if the price was reasonably low

The guy definitely knows where the back of the net is though, albeit he is only proven at League 2 level and below. I would back him to get 15+ in League One but I would hope we would also purchase another 1-2 strikers on top.

It's like going back to the good old days of....1980/90s

    'Welcome to Leicester City Clubcall....

Press 2 to hear the latest transfer new

Press 3 if you want to hear this options again 🤣

    Argh good old Clubcall.

My old man (RIP), got me in trouble as a kid, getting me to call Clubcall on the home phone. He was a massive Leicester fan so desperate for news/footy gossip.

But it was at a time when he had just broken up with my Mum and looking back, he was probably also asking me to call them (at whatever extortionate per minute price it was) to put one over on my Mum and her new fella (revenge)! :D. I do always remember my Mum having a fit when she saw a phonebil of over £150 and that was around 1993!!!!! lol

cannot wait for the inevitable radio Leicester phone in calling fans entitled after booing an opening day 4-0 defeat at home to Bromley. utterly rancid appointment.

Yeah this will happen. It happened quite a bit with Enzo - and that was even when we were top of the league!  , he hated his tactics being questioned.

I can  see it being the same with RM - but without us being top of the league

    Highlights?

    Against:

    - fear that the style of play is seen by some coaches (Pep) as somewhat outdated. Teams like Bournemouth have adapted/bettered it.
-Disappointment from Anil that we haven’t gone for, say an assistant manager from someone like Bournemouth.

    - Fear fanbase will be against him from the off and he will be fighting a losing battle

    - Anil acknowledged that ANY manager we get, will likely find it difficult to hit the ground running in the first weeks of the season, given player turnover.

    - read out the Rangers fans opinions of him 😂

    For:

    - Accepting that at least a decision is being made, relatively early. At least we are starting to ‘do something’

    - They talked through his time at Swansea and MK Dons

    - Talked about him not being quite as bad as some make out

    - Read out the Southampton fans opinions of RM

    - Talked about how the Southampton players wanted him back after Will Still was sacked.

    - Will play/develop youngsters

    thats about what I remember

  7. I have nothing against RM personally and he deffo isnt someone I would of appointed, as I feel he is fighting a very difficult battle to win over the fans.

What bothers me more is the style of play often being boring to watch. Especially if the opposition doesn’t press us, which is what happened a lot with Enzo.

Where teams figured out if they pressed us high up the pitch then we would just pass it through them (granted it looked good when that happened) but teams would often sit back and let the match turn into something so boring to watch- plus they then knew the fans would start to get on the players backs (which they often did, to Enzos annoyance).

  8. Oh my days, the guy is going to have a sizeable percentage of the fanbase on his back from the off. Don’t get me wrong, I will give the guy a chance and do my best to back him but many others won’t.

KP could have made things a lot easier for themselves by appointing nearly anyone but him. I think Rowett would have been a popular choice, in comparison!!

Im going to kid myself and say that he is only joining us because the board have promised to back him in the transfer market. Also that teams will stick 10 men behind the ball against us and that this style of all play may work (if I tell myself enough, I may start to believe it!!!) 😝😂

KP know how this appointment would go down amongst a fractured fanbase, so they are either very, very brave or very silly (I’m not going to comment on which I think it is).

Freddie Pye or Alan Nixon - I know which one I am hoping is right!! 😂

is it too early to start the lookout at Morrison’s yet?!?!? 😜

This is going to be such an awful season

If we go manage to sell all the players we've got, I have zero faith in our recruitment to bring in players to get us back up

    I tend to agree.

I fear that we wont be able to turn this around in one year as the rebuild will be too big.

I wonder if we will be a bit like Sunderland were, where we are always in and around the promotion/play off places for a few years before getting it right.

The pre season will be tough for any new manager as he will basically have players leaving right up until the transfer window closes - not fully knowing who he has to work with. For that reason, and the likely player churn, it may be difficult to start the season ‘Ready to hit the ground running’

I did say I believe he’s had promotions with lower league teams. What he’s done at Stockport is remarkable! I don’t see the new the new technical director opting for challinor, I think he will go for a youngish manager.

Yeah I tend to agree that I don’t see the new technical Director going for a Challinor or even Robins. As much as I would like them.

As you say, reckon it’s more than likely someone like Johnson or an unknown.

If it was Johnson, as others have mentioned on here, then I would hope he has learned from his time at Sunderland. Where they were basically blowing teams away, before the wheels fell off

His consistency throughout his career just makes him my number 1 choice.

If Robins leaves Stoke, despite question marks over his backroom staff, he’d be high on my list too. I also quite like the thought of Fuchs.

I’m still an admirer of the work Will Still did in France, but I think he speaks better French than he does English lol

Russell Martin would of course fracture a broken fanbase even more.

I’d be very surprised if it’s foreign, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jimmy Thelin gets mentioned again.

I agree that Robins would be a coup in terms of where we currently find ourselves.

The job he did at Cov was impressive. L2 to a Championship Play off final, only to lose on pens. Granted they were 17th when he was sacked but he had clearly laid some great foundations.

He would be one manager that I would be happy to take. I’m not so sure about Fuchs but again, he would be someone that I could get fully behind

Move heaven and earth for Challinor, Meulensteen and Hill.

Suppose that we are after him, or another manager about to finish off his season.

do you think Managers like this wouldn’t leave their clubs literally days after a result like this and would prefer to at least have their 2 week holiday first, to allow the dust to settle????

Looks like Stockport wont be getting promoted

    Try and get Challinor

Yeah I would go after him also. Knows the league and has likely took Stockport as far as he can - with a reasonably limited budget compared to several of other clubs in the league.
Yeah they haven’t looked great in today’s second half, but I judge him on his results over the last 5-6 years.

i don’t think he is the type of manager we will go for though, as much as I would like to see aggressive attacking football

  15. Can anyone tell me, in practical terms, how today's EFL vote will actually effect us next season, should it be passed??

I am guessing that whilst it should stop the club from taking us deeper into debt and push us towards a more sustainable model going forward (presuming we eventually start to comply with said regulations). In the short term it would limit any potential financial advantage we may have over other League One clubs next season??

Jamie Allen from Coventry who is out of contract from Coventry i think is worth a shot? He lives locally, and he really has a good work ethic?

I wouldn't mind grabbing a few of their players on loan aswell.

This is a good shout, and may be the type of 'experienced' player we need, alongside what is likely to be a very young team. Cov describe him as a 'workhorse', it also looks like he has played over 20 games for them this season. Coventry City told 2026 might be time for stalwart to depart - it rests on promotion to the Premier League though
