I still think Johnson will be top of the list with the McCarron/City Group connection, problem is he has two more play off games left and I imagine it's all dependent on whether Lommel get promoted or not.

If he is high on the list we're still weeks away.

Johnson is an interesting one. 51% win rate at Sunderland, in League One but then the wheels fell off a bit. He also has that link with CFG that McCarron will likely look at.

I am guessing he would be one who would 'play the youth' which would wash with a lot fans

  2. I know that a lot on here wanted Will Still here last season.

Whilst he wouldn't be my first or second choice now, would he be someone that may suit us now?? Will he have learned a lot from his time at Southampton? He is obviously at a point where he needs to rebuild his credibility in the game.

Watching this interview, skip straight to about 56 mins!, it does make me wonder about him.

  3. Salford fans currently singing “We’re going to Leicester, you’re going to…….”

we are going to have some proper glamour fixtures next season!! We need to rework our old chant ‘Wednesday nights, under the lights’!!

  4. In terms of experienced leaders, with high work rate, I would take Ben Pearson, should they decide to cancel his contract.

i work with a Stoke fans who reckons he is one of a few, that they may look to ‘let go’

He wouldnt be the most exciting signing but one who could guide whatever youngsters we have left!

Reason I said under 32 is because then it's long term, not just for one season.

Yeah, ideally we would want someone who will be the captain for a few seasons.

Looking back to the last time in League One, we had Oakley, who then remained captain for another two seasons after promotion

We would need to move on most of this current first team squad, because they won't respect someone like him.

They all consider themselves better than the level they've taken us too🤔.

If that happens then Challinor would be a good shout, he's managed over 800 games, done well at every club and knows League 1.

He would probably jump at the chance to manager Leicester having spent his entire playing and managerial career in the lower leagues.

I agree with this and think Challinor would suit us.

Out of interest, in terms of first teamers that will be left, who do you worry wouldn’t respect him?? I can only see a handful of the senior pros being left here as most will look to force a move

Skubala wouldn't come here and isn't available. We wont be paying for a new manager

I think you are probably right here.

Although part of me wonders if by virtually doubling his wages and us 'technically' being a bigger club, whether that could be enough to sway him. He likely feels that he on a good thing at Lincoln though and he will soon get better offers than us

OK so REALISTIC, suitable and current options from what I can see are:

    Dean Smith

    OGS

    RM

    Steven Gerrard

MIGHT be available should circs change:

    Challinor

    Mark Robins

    Long shots:

    Scott Parker

    Hassenhuttl

    Dick Schreuder

    Corberan

    Dyche

    Left field:

    Ben Wilkinson

    Danny Walker

    Not suitable?:

    Wellens

    Fuchs

No Skubala, or even Paul Warne, maybe on the 'Might' category???

I could see Page developing into that player but we could really do with adding a goal threat from central midfield.

Kasey Palmer may give you that - I know he didn't do great at Hull but the Luton fans have loved him during his loan spell there. TBH, I am only going off what the Luton fans have said and don't know if he a player known for his work rate etc.

If we get shut of Winks and maybe Skipp, Collins makes perfect sense imo.

    Collins

    Braybrooke

    Page

Then probably a new number 8, plus a more experienced head on a 1-2 year deal, I’d be happy with that.

Yeah I would go along with this. Although I wouldn't be fussed if Skipp was here next season, so long as he is fully committed and not sulking.

Agree on the number 8 shout, didn't we have Oakley playing that role in League One? Someone like that would do us good

50-60 games (The glamorous Vertu Trophy and all that!!!) will mean that we need to have a decent squad of players.

Dean Smith is returning i think, how would fans feel about that considering what happened last time?

I have heard a few others mention Dean Smith lately. Wouldn't be my first choice but deffo someone I could get behind.

Has a history in L1, has done rebuilds, history of playing youth etc. He may also bring back Steve Walsh who is working as an 'Advisor' at Charlotte FC

Rowett made us harder to beat with underlying numbers (xG vs. xG against) showing we should've actually picked up more points than we did.

He's certainly more experienced and qualified to take us back up than Martin, Solskjaer, Ferguson, Fuchs, most on the lists posted on here. I mean Jesus we've just seen Wellens through his side under a bus (who he recruited lets not forget) but people on here want him recruited because of "honesty" and he used to play for us. Most on here despised him when he was here! Blame Wellens literally became a meme.

I'm not Rowett's biggest fan but we have continuously recruited downwards since Enzo.

Agree with this, and I am far from saying Rowett is someone I would want here but he did change things, harder to beat and creating more chances etc etc. If he had of had a couple of even half decent strikers at his disposal then I dont think we would have gone down (McBurnie, Windass type).

I personally think we need someone new in, that the fans can get behind. Get Rowett in and we miss a chance to 'unite' the fans (as much as is possible anyway!)

  13. Because of hearing his name on here, I watched Tolaj at the weekend against Northampton (partly to watch Jake Evans) and he did look a right handful. Looking at his figures this season, he will no doubt be chased by a host of Championship clubs.

By all means, if we could get him, I would be well chuffed but I just cant see him coming to us over a Championship team.

  14. 15 minutes ago, Ric Flair said:

We need to be careful because Collins would be ideal but he's 27 and he will have a good amount of teams in the Championship who will give him a 3 year deal that with a signing on fee is likely to be £15-20k a week. The only way we get him is being ambitious and paying through the nose ala Winks and Coady and i've had a gutfull of that.

    tbf thats a good point.

Whilst I would want be interested in taking player like Collins at LCFC, as I think he is the type of player we need - I wouldn't then want to then make him the highest player in League One just to get him here (or in the equiv of a Winks bracket, but for League One).

Although is 10-15k over the top, for a top end League One player high? This is depending on actually IF (big if) the guy is a player that is one of the better midfielders in the division. If so, looking at last years top League One earners then maybe that particular figure wouldn't be too bad.

Braybrooke is hopefully a bigger part of our future than Winks will be, hopefully he’s given the encouragement to step up from day 1. I don’t know if he’s played all that much with Page due to loans and injuries but hopefully they are both given their chance maybe in a 3 with Skipp?

Yeah he is looking decent today and always looks to want the ball. He reminds me of Harry Winks (not attitude wise!!) but he also looks to get stuck into challenges.

    q

with 50-60 games next season, he is going to have to play a fair few games

Some interesting upcoming championship free agents:

CB - Ben Wilmot, A leader who’s good on the ball with much experience.

LB - Max Lowe, just an upgrade to Thomas. Linked with him in the summer and solid going forward also.

LB - Jamal Lewis, again an upgrade to Thomas. Struggled with injuries but could be a problem as an attacking left back.

LB - Aaron Cresswell, experienced pro with vital leadership. Older player but still performing and a deadly set piece. Short term deal.

CDM - Jairo Riedewald, not a consistent starter currently but a true holding midfielder comfortable on the ball.

CDM - Tommy Doyle, he’s a leader, good on the ball and scrappy. Would be a good addition.

CDM - Andre Dozzell, Very good on the ball, has the ability to dictate play.

ST - Josh Maja, been poor as of late but we’ve had interest in the past.

ST - Ross Stewart, we’ve been crying out for a different option up front. His presence and technical ability would cause problems in L1. Scored 24 in 46 games last time he played in league 1.

ST - Lyndon Dykes, similar to Stewart gives you a different option up front. Goal return might improve in league 1.

ST - Danny Ings, short term fix but just a goal scorer.

I would be interested in adding 3-4 older free agents with leadership like Lascelles, Cresswell, Doyle (not old) in what I imagine is going to be a very young squad for us.

I would love to see several of these at the club. I was always put off Maja after seeing STID and how he left them, so maybe a player like that isn’t what we need. Ross Stewart would be a great shout at L1 though - if he could be convinced to drop down.

Max Lowe is one that most of us turned our noses up last season but is the type of personality that we need now.

The options available to us are pretty poor or limited.
You either go for someone with experience in league 1 or lower like Challinor at Stockport (as long as they don’t go up) or you end up with someone who needs to rebuild their reputation. So a Ruben Selles, Will Still or Ryan Mason.
Failing those options you take a chance abroad like Huddersfield did a few years ago on an unknown like David Wagner.
Zero chance we even look abroad.
My preference is Michael Duff at Wycombe but I doubt we’ll even consider him.

Duff is a good shout tbh.

Would he leave Wycombe after only joining them several months ago??

He talked about wanting the opportunity to want to build something at Wycombe, probably off the back of things quite not working out for him at Swansea and Huddersfield (although I think he was sacked harshly at Huddersfield). Would he be happy with what he has at Wycombe and not want to risk it all, with managing us??

I might be wrong, but did Parker not get offered the Job before Enzo?

I certainly recall that he seemed close to being appointed. I also remember that the reaction on here, to him possibly joining wasn't great.

TBF, I think he had just basically failed at Brugge

He's left Burnley today. Would be a great appointment for where we are currently

    I agree.

Definitely someone we turned our noses up at a couple of seasons ago, but times change.

He is more of a man manager but did trust in younger players during his time at Fulham and Bournemouth

If Spurs go down, I bet he fancies himself getting that

Scott Parker putting himself in the frame for the Leicester job. Bold move.

Sorry to be slow on this, but I am guessing you are just referring to the fact he is performing badly at Burnley and we just generally hire dross???? or has something actually been said?

Thai national anthem to be blared out on the tannoys pre-game.

Birch and Sam Bailey wheeled out at half time for a shit superbowl-esque half time show because Top believes that's what the people want.

Lap of honour at full time with all those hardcore legit Thai Leicester fans that have been with us for several years...

On the subject of Birch, does anyone know how he is doing? Does he still go to the games but is more 'in the background'? I was just watching this and it got me thinking of those 'better times' but Birch was very much around the club at that time.
