Young Leicester side suffer narrow defeat in friendly at Villa

Leicester City opted not to risk any of their first team players for today's behind closed doors friendly against Aston Villa.

City fielded several first team players in a similar fixture against Stoke City at Belvoir Drive last week but the likes of new signing Nathan Dyer, Dean Hammond and Marcin Wasilewski, who haven't featured in the Premier League yet this season, were not included this time as a young Development squad side, including several from the under-18s, lost 1-0 at Bodymoor Heath.

"We always have tough games against Aston Villa, whether it be at Under-18s or Under-21s level," said coach Steve Beaglehole.

"It's disappointing not to keep a clean sheet. It wasn't a goal that took too much creativity. We didn't score, and we've found it hard to do so recently.

"At times we didn't look at our best and we've got a tough game coming up on Monday (away at Southampton), so we've got to make sure that we're more like what we were last year.

"We've got some of our older players out on loan, so our younger players are now coming up, and it's a big jump up from Under-18s to Under-21s level.

"Our challenge now is to be creative and score more goals but also to keep more clean sheets. We'll put a lot of work in on the training ground to do so."

CITY: Bramley, Trialist (Miles 68), Sesay, Choudhury, Davis, Moore, Barmby, Cain, Panayiotou, Rowe (King 68), Fox (Olukanmi 68)
