davieG Posted 28 August 2004 Posted 28 August 2004 FOOTBALL: ADAMS HITS BACK AT THE FOXES FANS CALLING FOR HIS HEAD MICKY: THERE'S NO PANIC HERE By Lee Reynolds DEFIANT Micky Adams last night came out fighting at Leicester's sluggish start to the season - and slammed supporters calling for his head. Adams, incredibly, has come under attack just four games into the season despite leading the Foxes through their darkest days. Leicester have lost their last two matches and frustrated fans have bombarded radio shows calling for Adams to be sacked. But he has ordered his troops not to panic as he prepares a return to the scene of his greatest managerial nightmare. Last season Leicester led 3-0 at half-time at Molineux, but conceded four goals to lose thanks to a diabolical second-half display. Both clubs were eventually relegated from the Premiership and are under great pressure to mount an immediate return. However, Adams insists the only pressure he feels is self-inflicted and has told fans to get off his squad's backs. He said: "I've been disappointed to hear there have been protests on radio phone-ins and people calling for my head already. "The fans also booed us off at half-time and full-time in our defeat against Watford last weekend. "But I've seen this club through perhaps its worst period in its recent history and I'm still here and fighting. There will be no panicking from me as we've only played four games. If there is any pressure on me, it's from me. "This is probably the first time I've been under pressure in all my time at Leicester. I've taken the club up before and people want me to do it again. "But the fans have been spoilt from two years ago when we started in style. Now they've seen the opposite end, but I don't think any club has a divine right to go straight back up. "If the fans want to have a go, they should lay off the players and pick on the little manager." Wolves boss Dave Jones is well accustomed to pressure at Molineux and the wicked whispers of his impending dismissal have started. Rumours Jones is set to be replaced by ex-England skipper Paul Ince in the Wolves hot-seat continue to swirl around Molineux. But Adams has offered his support to Jones - despite the fact Jones contributed to his lowest feeling in football. "Dave Jones is not going to crack and neither am I," he said. "First I've got to get what happened last season out of my system - that was probably the lowest I have ever felt after a game. "If we win both these games over the Bank Holiday I'll be the bees' knees. If we lose both listen to the radio phone-ins." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not if we keep playing the rubbish that passes as football at Filbert Way. Last time in this division was acceptable, trying to stay in the Premier was forgivable, but now is the time to start playing football not hoofball. Oh and by the way Micky I think the fans are blaming you (well apart from Stewart, Wilcox, Williams), so you need to get it right.
Scow Posted 28 August 2004 Posted 28 August 2004 .....And not much has improved today. Avoided defeat due to Wolves being poo too. He says we've been spoilt? Sorry to tell you this Micky, but you said you're not interested in the top six - You want the top two, and this type of football won't get us promoted. Aimless hoofs to Connolly is not going to get us goals. We need to feed it in to his feet and let other's get forward to join the attack. Then he brings on Nathan Blake for Connolly - I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this point. So what do we do? Hoof it up to Nathan Blake, who is seen mistakenly as a targetman who is neither tall or particularly strong - Add to that he has no pace either, and looked lethargic.

Hullfox Posted 28 August 2004 Posted 28 August 2004 What happened to the ten games we were going to wait for until passing judgement?
Scow Posted 28 August 2004 Posted 28 August 2004 What happened to the ten games we were going to wait for until passing judgement? 15768[/snapback] I haven't judged him yet - I am more than prepared to give him 10 games. Although, it just doesn't seem to be improving based on today's performance.
andy_croydz Posted 28 August 2004 Posted 28 August 2004 im actually dissapointed to hear that micky knows some fans are wanting him gone, and when managers and players know the fans dont like them thats when they feel unwanted, and its true mickys stayed with us through the proper bad times and i think he will put it right but im sad to hear people who have guided this club know the fans are against him
