Drink Driving Limit could be cut by a third in England and Wales

The people who drink drive now won't stop now because the limit is lower.

It won't stop the people that don't give a toss, I agree. But it might stop a few that would rather err on the side of caution, or those that do it inadvertently

Its the morning after is always the worry to me. Driving to football on a Sunday morning I must of been over the limit a few times over the years. You would of thought by now a car company would of come up with a key that you have to blow into and if you were over your car wouldn't start?! or something along those lines.

When I used to play football on a Sunday morning half of our team would go out on a Saturday night together. We would probably get in at 4am then drive to football at 9.30am. We always said if police wanted to catch people drink driving all they would need to do is sit at the entrance of our ground and they'd get at least 7 of us.

I don't drink in moderation either, if I drink it's to get pissed but if I'm just nipping into the pub for 5 mins I'll still have a pint instead of a coke. Eating totally different though.

A mouthful of rare fillet steak pressing onto a tongue that has just been been doused with the beauty of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape - heaven.

obviously not really delicious like hot chocolate or coke, but for wine, brilliant.

agree re. the morning after. how long is it they reckon you're still over the limit for? i used to drive to work for 8.30 after nights out so probably would've been done loads of times. on the actual night it just seems stupid to me. i can handle a lot of beer (not #LAD type of handling, i mean i can genuinely drink decent amounts of ale before i start to wobble) so i'd probably be fine and dandy to drive well over the limit but what's the point?

if you can't enjoy food without wine then surely you're going to need more than one glass of wine to enjoy a full meal anyway? just leave the car at home and doubly enjoy your evening.

Nobody wants the feeling their car is spying on them, even if it does, and nobody would want to pay the extra money for a feature like that. Those kind of systems exist as aftermarket additions that some places require for people with drink-driving convictions, though, which I think is a good idea.
